Alexander NixonThe sun lit up the sky as it slowly crept from behind the mountains announcing the coming of a new day. As the rays peeked through the curtain a quick stretch of my body and yawn is released before I got out of bed. I walked closer to the window to see the sunrise and once I separated the curtains the sun came pouring in ridding me of the sleepy feeling that my body possessed.
The entire time I prepared myself for the day my mind kept drifting off to Nayeli and that beautiful smile she would bless me with every now and then.
"Good Morning." Nayeli smiled taking a seat next to me on the couch, her voice was so soft. "This place is so relaxing, I slept like a baby last night."
"I spent most of this morning staring at it the sunrise, for the first time in a long while I want to sleep in but we have breakfast in a few followed by a visit to the Taj Mahal."
"Are you serious?"
"Yes, why would we come here and not go sightseeing? It's your birth week and we are here to have fun."
"Thank you so much again," she wrapped her arms around me, I wasted no time hugging her back slowly inhaling the sweet smell of her hair. "I really appreciate it."
"Trust me when I say it is not a big deal."
"It actually is," she pulled away from me with a chuckle . "Not everyone can fly across the world on their private jets just because they want to."
"Really because it's happen to me plenty of times."
"Maybe in the world you live in but I'm sure you know it's not like that for everyone else," she shrugged as if she doesn't know what to say next—or how to say it rather. "You're a smart man, you see what the world is like."
An air of melancholy surrounded us soon and my gut is telling me her reason for speaking like this lies within her own experiences.
"You can get used to living like this, I mean . . . it depends on if you're gonna continue being my friend or do you want to stop talking to me again?" I eyed her playfully.
I remember the first time we met, its not a good memory but I don't regret that day. I do, however, regret treating her the way I did, she didn't deserve that but I'm just glad she forgave me and we moved pass it.
"I never actually thought about coming here you know," Nayeli said as we strolled to the Taj Mahal. Immediately after we had breakfast she was eager to leave the hotel and so was I. The scenery was very different for us both so we spent most of our time looking around and interacting with non tourists.
"May I ask why?" There were many other tourist scattered everywhere, some of which looked as if they recognized me. I was the least bit worried of anything happening to myself and Nayeli since my security detail surrounded me.
