"Started cleaning these office now you have your own, all of that happened in the blink of an eye," Stormi stated before shoving a fork full of noodles in her mouth, her eyes examining the room. Her feet were resting comfortably on my desk but I didn't care seeing that my mind is focused on so many other things.
I looked down at the cold food in my hand that has been barely touched while Stormi spoke and I am silently deciding if I should try eating it or dumping it since I don't feel hungry.
"You weren't listening to one shit I was saying weren't you?" She asked with a slight attitude.
"No, I wasn't, my bad." I dropped the chopsticks in the box and placed it on my table giving up on trying to consume anymore.
"Lyndon found out the office belongs to you." I suddenly became interested at the mention of her name, I almost forgot she existed.
"Let me guess she told all her other friends," I grumbled rolling my eyes.
"She told them everything, I heard them talking about he took you out for dinner then slept with you and that's how you got this job." I was appalled by the time she finished talking, of course, they had formed some rumors about me.
"First of all, I haven't even slept with him." I tried to defend myself.
"You don't need to explain anything to a soul, let them say what they want. You're the one sitting in this office at the end of the day."
"Do they say anything to you? Or ask you questions?" I passed her a napkin to wipe her mouth clean and she does so quickly before speaking.
"Oh I don't work here anymore, I quit." My jaw fell at her response, all sorts of questions are now running through my mind.
"Since when and why am I just now hearing this?" I grinned waiting for her to answer.
"About three weeks now, Alexander helped me land this job with a famous fashion designer, Nyah Trevino. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't know how to say it with you know." She trailed off and instantly I understood exactly what she meant.
"Oh." I started feeling miserable all over again. "Well, now that you told me we can talk about it."
"I'm definitely happy where I'm working, I feel respected and my work is really appreciated. My ideas matter just as much as anyone else and I get to express myself." I felt better after hearing the happiness in her voice.
"I'm happy for you." I moved from my desk to give her a hug.
"Let's not forget the customers love me." She boasted making me burst into laughter. "So how are things with Mr.Nixon, when's the wedding?" She changed the topic putting the focus on me.
"Definitely not gonna be a wedding any time soon, he's a bit of a control freak," I said hesitantly.
"Okay, and what did you expect?" Her voice filled with humor. "A man like him doesn't do what anyone else says, he does what he wants when he wants." She shrugged as if it were obvious.
"I'm supposed to just accept that and let him control me?"
"I never said that I'm just letting you know but if you don't like it speak up about it."
"I tried already and he doesn't listen." She finally stopped eating and put the food down.
"Then make him listen." She shrugged her shoulders.
