Nayeli Binns
"Can't say I didn't warn you, I knew it wasn't gonna end well." Stormi shook her head in disappointment as I spoke about last night's events. "Are you sure you don't want me to have a word with him?" I laughed at her knowing very well she might be serious about that question.
Stormi asked me to assist in finding the perfect gift for her older sister, so here we are on a Wednesday afternoon hopping from store to store. It took a while before we finally came across the most elegant dress. Stormi wanted to ensure her sister would love the gift.
When Stormi was forced to move out by her parents her older sister took the responsibility of housing her. She didn't have to do it but she did. Their parents weren't too happy when Stormi opened up to them about her sexual orientation, they didn't want to accept it due to the fact that it is seen as a sin in their eyes. She was expecting them to accept her as their daughter but to her surprise, she was asked to leave their house straight away.
"No it's okay, I'm just glad Alexander was there. I don't know how I would've gotten home." The sky is overcast and It's clear the rain is about to pour down, my thoughts were confirmed when heavy droplets of water began hitting my forehead. We rushed to the bus stop for shelter and made it just in time.
"Yes, thank God for him but still you sure you don't want me to talk to him? It won't be for long."
"Stormi I said no." I laughed at her attempt to look intimidating.
"You ain't gang," she leaned on the pole of the bus shed. "If I were you I would get back on speaking terms with Alexander."
"We are on speaking terms, I thanked him for taking me home last night."
"Yeah you may have but I meant like . . . actually hold a conversation with him, you guys were so close."
"I have no problem doing so I actually kind of miss how kind he was to me."
"Really now?" Stormy smirked at me.
"I guess his brother made me realize how respectful and kind he is to me and I kinda miss that." I stepped to the side as other people joined us under the shed, I decided not to continue the conversation just so that no one can hear me discussing my business.
"I can't believe this weather, just a second ago the sun was shining," Stormi sighed, she did not want to get sick. Just as a bus pulled up in front of us I heard my name being called by a familiar voice. When I look to see who it was I couldn't help the smile that formed on my face, Stormi smiled at me before climbing the steps on the bus. I quickly ran towards David as he met me with an umbrella. He wasted no time escorting me to the vehicle out of the rain.
"Hello." Alexander sat looking at me with a smile on his face.
"Hi," I returned the smile as his eyes peered into mine. I could feel droplets of water slowly trickling down my face.
"You can use this to dry your face," I watched his hand reach into his jacket before extending his handkerchief.
"Thank you very much," I tried to hide my blush.
"Are you comfortable with going to my home?" He asked once I buckled my seatbelt.
"Yeah." I stuttered, not sure why.
"You don't sound comfortable Nayeli, you don't have to go if you don't want to. I'm not my brother."
"No it's not that, you're gonna have to take me home to get ready for work."
