The air was forced from my lungs. Even if I wanted to scream I couldn't.
The water was cold enough to temporarily paralyze me. After a few seconds I pop back up and take a greedy breath of air. Gabriel was about a yard away laughing.
"Ivy, the look on your face....was epic." he was laughing really hard. I splash at him.
He sputters and splashes back. I dive under the water and stay there watching his form move back and forth looking for me. Slowly I swam closer till I was underneath him. I yanked his leg hard pulling him under the water. I smiled as our faces passed each other on our way up for air.
I started laughing. "The look on your face...was epic!" I laugh again.
"Okay okay you got me. That was pretty fun. "He says laying on his back. I smile and swim over so I am looking down at him. His eyes were closed. He almost looked like he was asleep....peaceful. It only enhanced his beauty.
What made me so attracted to this little human? The bond...only seems to be effecting me...maybe it was just wishful thinking.
Slowly a small smile spread over Gabriel's face. "You just going to float there staring at me, Ivy, or are you going to join me in the relaxing current?" He asks with one eye open.
I blush hoping he doesn't see. Then lay on my back beside him. It was like he was emitting heat.
Once I started to tell he was getting cold I played it up with shivering. "Gabriel it's getting cold." I say sitting up. To my surprise...he was asleep. I smile and move my hand over his gently holding it. He WAS my mate...but I can't tell him...I can't tell him he is my mate...that I'm in love with him. .that I'm a vampire....it would hurt him. So I would take my suffering in silence. If I couldn't allow myself to love him...I could at least be with him as his friend.
I gently wake him "Hey Gabriel it's getting cold...let's head home." I say playing up the cold with chattering teeth. He looked up then. He obviously was really asleep. I rub my arms. He gets up and we head to shore.
He pulled two huge towels from the Bag he brought, handing one to me. I smile and wrap it around my arms and torso.
He had thought to bring a towel for me, He was so sweet it could give you cavities.
"Once we dry off a bit we can get going Ivy. It's better than catching a cold." he says, pulling his shorts back on.
I nod and start pulling my clothes on.
"Hey, Ivy...wait here a second." he says turning and running into the woods. I sit down on the towel and busy myself with tying my shoes extremely slowly. I heard his footsteps getting closer to me. I started tying a bit faster then there was a bright yellow flower sat on my shoe. "A pretty flower for a pretty girl." he says sitting beside me. I smile and tuck it in my hair.
"Thanks, Gabriel. It's very nice. "I say my heart breaks for what I'm going to say next.
