I heard the sound of something hitting the ground then the undeniable sound of a motorcycles engine and the squealing of the tires. Pushing harder against the girl that was kissing me I moved away from the wall. On the ground there was a Mountain Dew Pitch Black, Ivy's favorite drink, and her bike was gone. I turned back to Raven. She was standing there with a smirk on her face. Her hand was on her metal clad hip, her blue Indian patterned shirt was rode up and my hand-prints were pale against her dark tan.
"What did you do?" I asked her.
"I claimed you as mine, Gabriel. She won't think twice about taking you from me now." Her voice was dripping with seductiveness. With every word my heart sank. "She was in love with you, you know? That mosquito."
That hit home. Ivy. Was in love with me...and she saw what looked like me kissing another girl. I turned and ran off down the street. Ivy was probably already home...I tried her cell. No answer. It went straight to voicemail. I didn't blame her for not wanting to talk to me.
"HEY! Wait for me!" A female's voice called. I heard someone running up behind me. It was Raven. "Come on, babe, forget her your mine now. She is probably long gone by now. Blood suckers move quickly." She grabbed my hand and stopped moving, stopping me in my tracks. "You're much more likely to survive a relationship with me then her. I won't hurt you. Not like she would." there was an undertone of a threat there.
"IVY WOULD NEVER HURT ME!" I yelled at her. "Not like how you made me hurt her. Go away Raven, I am not going to stand by and have you ruin everything!" Her grip hardened on my wrist.
"Don't make this mistake, Gabriel. It will be easier for you if you just accept it and come with me. You will be the pacifier or the catalyst. Your choice." Yeah that was definitely a threat. I jerked my hand away from her and started back down the road. This time she didn't follow. I started at a slow jog, but as I got closer to home...my pace quickened. I needed to see her. I needed to tell her how I felt and that I wanted to be with her.
When I got into view of her house I broke into a dead run. By the time I was at her door I was dripping sweat. The door to the garage was down and it was dark. I couldn't tell if she was in there or not. Her mother wasn't home either and no one answered the door.
Running across the lawn I went into my own house and up to my own room. Throwing open the window and leaning out to knock on her window. It was an open window. I pulled the curtain aside and looked inside. No one was in there. She wasn't here. Where could she have gone?
Pulling myself back into my own room I tried calling her again. Still no answer. Then I got an idea of where she might have gone. I noticed when Ivy gets upset she heads for high ground. She goes to the roof at school....the highest point in Serenity was the falls. I ran down stairs and grabbed my old BMX bike and took off for the falls.
The road was damn near a ghost town save for a few cars. Then I saw it.There were burned out wheels on the pavement running off the road. A smear of blood and Ivy's bike in the ditch. I dug my phone and dialed her number. A second later I heard her ring off by the tree line. I ran down to the tree line and picked up her phone.
"Ivy!!!" her name echoed off the trees, but there was no answer.
Going back up to my bike I climbed back on and made my way towards the falls.
While I pedaled all I could think was. "Please be okay. Please be okay."
Dropping my bike on the path I continued to the falls at full speed on foot. After getting to the base of the falls I was out of breath and my throat hurt. I sat down on a boulder and laid my head in my hands. The roar of the water you couldn't hear anything. If my hunch was right she would be at or near the top. I needed to get up and start up the hill. Reluctantly I stood to my feet and started running up the hill, her phone tightly clasped in my hand. As I neared the top I started to hear something that was not the falls....it was sobs.
My pace quickened till I could see her. Her velvet black hair. Her moon pale skin. She was on her knees, her head to the ground wrapped in her arms. It broke my heart to see her like this. Slowly I stepped onto the flat ground.
