I didn't know what to do. Ivy wasn't bleeding how she could collapse. Kneeling beside her in the ditch trying to wake her up.
She was cold and limp...like she was dead.
I had to call an ambulance. Calling 911. Easy. Keeping my composure was difficult. When wouldn't it be, when you're sitting there watching someone you love slipping from your grasp.
The ambulance arrived a few minutes and in the back was Ivy's mother. She was dressed like a nurse. She must have heard and came with the paramedics. She came rushing down the hill.
"Gabriel, what happened?" she asks, kneeling beside me and moving her daughter to lay flat on her back.
"She got in a crash. She was fine a few minutes ago she wasn't even bleeding then she just collapsed. She said the blood over there on the ground is hers but she isn't bleeding anywhere." I say leaving out the part of her running off because of me and Raven. She seemed to calm down.
"All right. Now I know what's wrong with her. We need to give her a transfusion. She needs blood. It is an easy fix. We just got to get her into the ambulance and get her to the hospital. There we can replace blood she has lost." Her mother says motioning for the team to come down with the gurney.
I was baffled. "But she isn't bleeding. How can she have lost blood without a wound to speak of?"
She seemed to pause then turned. "That is best to leave to Ivy to tell you." She started again back up the hill. I wasn't done yet. "Wait! I am coming too!" I got up and started running after her. I actually heard her sigh. She pulled her phone out and made a quick call. Then we were all in the back of the ambulance. Ivy was strapped to a gurney, Haven was shoving a needle into her arm. I was just sitting there helpless.

Once we got to the hospital, they wheeled Ivy off so fast it was hard to keep up. I followed them to a room with glass for a wall. You could see what they were doing. They had multiple bags of blood hanging from a metal rack that was connected to her arm by rubber tubes. It was horrifying to see her like that. Almost horrifying enough to make me throw up. I swallowed the bile that was in my throat and sat down.
Haven was in there with her. She wasn't going to let anything happen to Ivy. I just had to sit here and wait for her to wake up. I wasn't going to leave her here alone. Even if her mother was here I was the one who made her go speeding off in the first place. Placing my head on my knees and leaning against the wall. The slow ticking of the clock lulled me to sleep.

When next I woke. I was in a hospital bed. Oh god did I get into a crash and end up in a coma? Was it all a dream? I sat up quickly and looked around. Ivy was on the other bed next to mine. The tubes were gone and she was laying on her side. She was curled up and peaceful looking. When she heard me sit up, her eyes opened. The vivid green never seized to startle me. She smiled and sat up.
"I was wondering when you were going to wake up my love." Her voice was silky. Almost like a cat's purr. She sat up and stretched but when she looked back at me...her eyes were no longer green. In their place was the crimson red from the night at the window. "Come on. You must be thirsty after all a changelings' first day away is his most thirsty. Let's go find you some blood, Gabriel." She got up and took me by my hands. As I stood I saw a flash of myself in the mirror....I had blood red eyes like hers and...Fangs. I don't remember if i screamed or not...but then everything went black.

I woke up with a jolt. I was covered in cold sweat, I was freezing. I sat up. I wasn't on the floor anymore. Looking around I knew I was in her room. I was sitting in the floral covered chair. Someone had pulled it close so that it was right next to the bed and had set me in it with a blanket. I looked over to Ivy. She still looked comatose. I slowly sat up further and laid my hand on her palm. It was cold as ice and I picked it up on both my hands and blew.
It took nearly 15 minutes to get her hand warm enough to say it was okay. I placed it back on the bed beside her and got up. I probably should have called dad and let him know I was okay. I grabbed my phone and walked out into the hall.
It was eerily quiet. I dialed my dad's number. He picked up on the second ring.

"Hello?" He sounded pissed and worried.

"Um...Hey dad it's me....I'm sorry I didn't call I-"

"Boy do you have any idea how worried I was about you? You could have been dead in a ditch and I wouldn't have known. Where are you right now?"

"I'm at the hospital...not for me. For Ivy. I found her in a ditch. She crashed her bike this afternoon. It's where I have been all day. I am sorry for not calling."

There was silence on the other end of the phone. "Is she alright?" He sounded genuinely concerned...not character for my dad. "Gabriel, were you on the bike? What happened?"

"Dad, I'm fine. I wasn't on the bike. She was driving and she lost control I think. I haven't been able to talk to her. I will call in the morning....I'm going to stay till she wakes up. I kind of hold myself responsible for it." and at that I hung up and turned my phone back off. I walked back in the room and Ivy was sitting up.
