Monday was horrible. First my blood had spoiled, yes blood spoils, then I couldn't find my bag. Then Gabriel Had fallen off my bike. Today was not going to go well.
We pulled in and parked in our usual spot. After Gabriel had hopped off I swung my leg over and yanked my helmet off.
"I'm so sorry, Gabriel, are you sure you're okay?" I asked trying to look where he had hit the cement, but he kept pulling away.
"Ivy, I told you I am fine. Please stop worrying about me. I am fine." He says chuckling.
I couldn't help but worry about him...he might not know it but....I loved him. He was the most important thing to me now, but I couldn't tell him that so I just looked at him and shrugged. His smile was radiant when we turned to go inside.
His hand brushed mine, but I couldn't tell if he did it on purpose or if it was just an accident. I couldn't help the blush that came to my cheeks. I dropped my things off at my locker and then Gabriel walked me to class. He stood outside the door till the bell rang just to talk to me. He kept it friendly and we talked about everything. From music to books. I asked him about his life and his family. I was making a theoretical scrapbook of him. To remember him when we part ways. I couldn't stay with him forever. He would notice that I never aged. That I wasn't growing old. My mom was practically in mourning with the knowledge she wouldn't be getting a son in law ever.
I started to feel more and more depressed as it went on.
A week past and the only reprieve I got was when I was with him. I started hanging around him more and more. All day after school we were either at the falls or his room. Slowly it was becoming unbearable to be without him.
"Ivy, what do you want to do later?" We were in chemistry. Jack had opted to sit where Gabriel had previously sat. On the very end of the table as far away from us as possible. Chloe, who was actually Jack's girlfriend, had started up with her usual school snobby attitude.
"HM...Let's grab a bite to eat, down at the diner. My treat. I have been meaning to get out of the house and see the rest of the town." I am trying to make up something that will eat up some time. He smiled and nodded as the teacher came around to check on our work. At the same time a girl with dark brown hair and a deep tan poked on Gabriel's shoulder. He leaned back and started talking to her. It left an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I finished my work and made my way out of the class room and up to the roof.
No one but Gabriel knew that I ever went up there. No one noticed my absence, not even Gabriel. Not till after Gym. Then he came up to look for me.
"Ivy? Ivy where are you? It's lunch time. Come on you're going to starve up here if you don't come down and eat." His voice was joking but I knew he was honestly concerned.
I stood up from the darkened crevice that I was sitting in and made my way to the door.
"What are you doing up here, Ivy? What made you think you had to hide away like this...without telling me?"
Honestly...I was still thinking about it when he came up here. "Just thinking, it's okay let's go eat before YOU starve to death." I say starting back down to the main floor. He laughs and follows me down.
After lunch Gabriel had disappeared. He said he was going to grab a drink and then he would be right back. The pop machine was on the other side of the school, but when he didn't come back I got worried. I got worried that Chloe or Jack had gotten to him while I wasn't there.
I went to look for him first at the pop machine then I checked the drinking fountains. Nothing.
In the allotted time that I had alone I had thought about what I wanted...how things would go...if I accepted Gabriel as my mate. I was tired of running and hiding. Of the depression that was weighing me down. I wanted him...and I wasn't going to ignore that anymore. I walked outside and heard what I thought was people.
Walking around the corner of the building I froze seeing something that both shocked and broke my heart.
Turning I ran for my bike. I didn't care if my stuff was still inside. I just kick started the engine and peeled out of there as fast as I could.
