My heart squeezed and squeezed as I looked for the words I needed to say...it hurt to think that I was going to deny my heart its mate, but it was to keep him safe. Here it goes.
"Gabriel...thank you...for being my friend." I winced inwardly. "I am glad I have someone like you to call my friend. To show me all the fun things there are to do here in Serenity and to have my back when I need you." I say this dying a little with every word.
His shoulders dropped a fraction then he perked back up.
"No problem, Ivy. I'm glad to have you as a friend as well. Are you ready to go?" He asks standing up offering to help me up. I accepted and took His hand. He pulled me to my feet. I stumbled not really paying attention then I was in his arms.
He chuckled "You got to be more careful, Ivy, you might end up falling for Me." he says, righting me and laughing. I give a halfhearted laugh and pick up my towel putting it back in his bag. He smiled at me before turning to lead me back to the bike.
By the time we got home it was dark. I pull into the garage and cut the engine. He hops off and stretches. I was much slower. I pull the tarp over it and place my helmet on the hook. Gabriel was lurking by the entrance. I turned to look at him. "Ivy, today was fun. Do you think we could hang out again soon? "He sounded unsure and cautious. I nod and smile. "Yes. I would like to hang out again. What you want to do next time?"He contemplated really hard. Then his face lit up. "There is a lunar eclipse in 2 months we can hang out before then but, want to come over and watch with me, Ivy?" He sounded excited... I was anything but. Lunar eclipses are the epitome of vampire mating. They make them official and binding. Blandly, the vampire bites her/his mate and changed them into a vampire. It only works in the lunar eclipse. Any other time they would die....permanently. I nod and as I did I wondered.....what I had just done
