It couldn't end like this. I wanted to wait till I was sure he would be able to handle it. I didn't want him to find out this way. Fein had pissed me off, and I blew it. Now I had to tell Gabriel the truth....but it could end our friendship...
"Gabriel, I will answer you if you answer me first. Would it really matter if I wasn't human?" I watched him with close observation. Every part of me wanted to shake him for having to think about it. He KNEW me. He knew what I was like. Would I being a vampire really change how he looked at me? I watched several different emotions play across his face. Surprise. Wonder. Confusion. Anger. Indecision. Deep in thought. And then resolve. I waited anxiously for his answer.
"No...Ivy. No it would not. I would take you over anyone else in the world any day. I don't care if you're not human...you don't even need to tell me what you are at this moment, cause I know you will tell me when you're ready. I just want to be able to still hang around you and have fun. Like we have been having. Promise you won't leave?" He said moving to touch my shoulder.
I looked from it to him and back again before nodding. I cover his hand with mine and smile.
"Oh gag me with rotten blood. That is just so sickening. The rabbit decided to walk right into the wolves den. Nice knowing you Gabriel." Fein says flopping down onto the bed that I had been occupying a while ago, covering his face with the sleeve of his hoodie and sighing. "This is going to be the most interesting thing I have seen in a long time."
I roll my eyes and look at him. "You know Fein, if you don't like it you don't have to hang around me. If you're going to stick around you are going to have to deal with the fact that this human is different from the rest. He is willing to accept even if he doesn't know." I say placing my hands on my hips. He looked up at me from under his dark and long lashes, those unusual and lonely eyes looking straight into mine. I immediately thought better of what I said. I walked over to him and smiled. "Come on, you come with us. We are all going home tonight." I say offering him my hand.
He looks from my hand, up to my face, over to Gabriel and back again, A few times before taking it and letting me pull him to his feet. "Let's go find mom and get out of here." I say turning to walk out the door. Gabriel on my right and Fein on my left.
Mom was in the lobby filling out paperwork when we found her.
"Oh hey kids. I will be just a few minutes. You can head out to the car and wait for me if you want. "We all nodded but I stopped for a minute.
"Mom, can Fein stay with us for a little while? I don't want to leave him here and let him wander the streets." I ask, sitting down next to her.
"Sure, Ivy. He can stay in our guest room. Just promise me to keep an eye on him. I don't think he is going to be easy to move on our diet. "She says not even looking up from her paperwork. I nod and go to catch up to the boys who were talking to each other outside the doors. I walked out the doors and led them to my mom's car. I let our things take the front seat while the three of us piled into the back seat to talk.
I had been here only a short while and I already had two great friends. Sure Gabriel was my mate and he had kissed me but, I haven't told him yet. So until then he is going to be my best friend. Just till I can bring up the courage to tell him that I am bound to him and that his life as he knows it will end if he chooses to stay. Just a few more weeks left...till the Lunar Eclipse.
