I sat down on a chair as Ms. King started her class. I glanced at the seat beside me. It's still vacant. Maybe Patrick Hall is absent? I don't know. I just hope so. Those glares the girls gave me was so cold that I could swear they are cursing me inside their head.
"I'm sorry I'm late," a masculine voice said from the door.
My head snapped at that direction while the other girls fixed their clothes, their hair and other things. I saw Aeriel and she was looking eagerly at the door. Maybe she does like him.
"It's alright, Mr. Hall," Ms. King said and ushered Patrick inside. And that's when I first saw him.
Patrick Hall was wearing a checkered polo shirt and skinny jeans for guys. He also wore a Converse high-top shoes. He was carrying his bag on his right shoulder and his dark hair was untidy. And his twinkling gray eyes was looking at me. And on that spot, we locked eyes.
"I suppose she's going to be my partner?" Patrick asked, nodding towards me.
"Yes," Ms. King said.
Patrick made his way towards me and sat on the vancat seat. While Ms. King started her lecture, Patrick pushed his chair closer to me. "You must be new here," he said. "I'm Patrick Hall. And you are?"
"Kate Roberts," I said, still looking at the board. I could feel his breath on my face. I do think he's handsome. No wonder those girls go crazy. But there's another thing I am feeling. It's like I'm drawn to him. What is this feeling? I never felt this before. "Could you move a little bit back?"
"You should be grateful The Patrick is sitting beside you," Patrick said as he smirked.
"Should I feel honored?" I asked somewhat sarcastically. "And besides, I don't really care that I'm sitting with you. I'm trying to learn."
"Ahhh, I can see you're a girl who devotes her time in studying," Patrick said, nodding. "I can't believe you want to do that instead of talking to me."
"It's class time and we should listen to the teacher!" I said.
He was quiet for awhile but then he started talking again. "What's your class after this?" he asked.
"Algebra," I said after checking my schedule.
"Ooh, do you believe in destiny?" Patrick asked. "That's my next class, too!"
I turned to him to tell him to shut up because I'm listening. But then I suddenly found myself trapped on his looks. His face was flawless and his eyes were so stunningly gray. His lips were open in mid-sentence and his untidy coal-black hair was lying innocently at his forehead. He was also staring at my face and then his brows crinkled. Maybe his thinking why I was so white.
Suddenly, I could tell what he is feeling. He was feeling lonely. Even though he's handsome, popular and had a cheerleader for a girlfriend, he feels lonely. And I wondered why. Why would a guy like him be lonely? Shouldn't he be lucky or jumping out of joy because he's popular?
And then it struck me. Guardian angels could tell the feelings of their human. I pushed myself backward, dizzy. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked.
I didn't answer him. Me? Okay? Of course not! I just found my human and he's Patrick Hall. Patrick Hall! I looked back at him again and ignored the throbbing of my heart. He's face indicates he's worried about me and I suddenly felt happy. At last I found my human. If I could fix him up, I'd go back to Heaven where I belong.
But somehow that's not the reason why I'm happy. And I don't know why. I shook my head. Human emotions are so complicated.
"Kate, are you okay?" Patrick asked, his voice worrying. "If you won't say anything, I'd call Ms. King and tell her you passed out!"
"I'm fine," I said, choking for air. I took a deep breath and then another. I looked back at him. "Do you want to eat lunch with me?"
I'm supposed to eat lunch with Charisse and Aeriel at the cafeteria but I already found my human! I couldn't let him go! I should fix him up by first knowing about him. And after, I would teach him good things. If he would learn his lesson, my wing would recover and I would be back at Heaven.
"Joanne and I have a date," Patrick said slowly. "Why do you want to eat lunch with me?"
I hesistated. I couldn't just ask him to eat lunch with me. That seems too weird. He has a girlfriend. Of course, he wouldn't eat lunch with me. But I seriously need him to talk with me. "How about later this afternoon?" I asked. "After classes? You pick where we should eat."
Then he smiled slyly. "Are you asking me out?" he asked.
I blushed but stopped myself. I can't tell him I'm his guardian angel. He would probably lock me up inside a room. And there's only one way for him to agree. I should seduce him. "Maybe," I said and give him a sweet smile.
"It's a date?" Patrick asked, his eyes shining with excitement.
I nodded. "It's a date," I agreed.
I turned back to the teacher and tried to listen. But there's a voice shouting inside my head:
I HAVE A DATE WITH PATRICK HALL!
The song of this chapter is Untouchable by: Taylor Swift. :) It's a nice song! xD
