(7) The Slow Dance

Peridot POV
We decided on meeting up at the ball, we planned on seeing each other for the first time there, and that made it even more of a surprise on how pretty she looked. I waited by the entrance and then I saw the bluenette walk up to me, her hair in curls, her makeup all done up and the dress just ties everything together. I blush at the sight of her, she smirks gaining my attention and I look away flushing more.
Lapis POV
We both walked in and met up with Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, Steven and Connie. These are Peridot's friends that she made during her time at school.
"Hey guys!"
Peridot says, I wave nervously at them.
"You waddup!"
Amethyst says, taking a sup of the fruit punch.
"Hello!"
Pearl says politely.
"Hey Lapis!"
Steven hugs me.
"Wait Steven! How are you here you're not in our-"
"Connie is!"
Steven cuts me off, I mouthed 'oh' in realisation.
"Actually guys! You barely come to school anymore! Why?"
Peridot asks them.
"Well you see, someone needs to mind Steven while Rose is working at the school, she lets us stay off school to mind him!"
Peridot nods in understandment but is still confused.
"Peridot! I'm gonna get us some of that punch okay?"
She nods and continues talking to the girls, I head over and grab two cups.
"Hey there"
I look up and see a guy across the table, looking at me.
"Uh...hi?"
I say back,
"A pretty girl like you shouldn't be alone!"
I look at him confuse and then laugh.
"Well lucky me I'm not alone!"
I then continue to walk away, smirking at his dumb ass self.
I arrive back to our little group.
"Well fokes! The dance contest is going to begin, everyone can participate!"
Me and Peridot look at each other, I put out my hand to her.
"Yolo?"
She giggles and takes my hand. We walk to the dance floor along with others, it's weird, everyone else are couples and then there's us, friends, I might tell her tonight!
Peridot POV
I might tell her while dancing, maybe, wait what if she freaks out when I say it, no I'm gonna tell her tonight! It's tonight or nothing Peridot! Tonight or-
"Let the contest begin!"
The DJ person says and they put on some music. Of course it's slow cause everyone else are couples except us. We start to slow dance, it was pretty awkward. I took a deep breath.
"I need to tell you something!"
We said in unison, we giggle at each other.
"Okay you first!"
We say in unison again.
"Peridot! You go first!"
Lapis says, still dancing.
"Well, it's something that I need to get off my chest, and- GAH!"
Lapis spins me around. She giggles.
"Continue!"
I look at her grumpily.
"Well, anyway, it's not easy to say, it's pretty hard to tell you.."
Lapis looks at me eagerly.
"C'mon you can tell me!"
She smiles her prize winning smile making me blush. She then spins me around.
"Well, ugh you see I..uh..I-"
"Wait the song is nearly finished, do a twirl thing!"
I nod, I twirl her around and as the song finishes, I dip her, the spotlight on us, we stare at each other blushing.
"I...kinda like you..."
I blush more but Lapis is shocked.

I then felt something on my lips.

My eyes widen and I see Lapis kissing me, I blush wildly. 'OH MY STARS SHES KISSING ME!!'  I then kiss back, I don't care if people are staring, I just need her. We stop to look at each other. We're both a blushing mess, that's when we heard someone clap, this was then joined by multiple claps, and then the whole place was cheering and applauding us. I look down at Lapis nervously, she giggles, jumps up and hugs me. She then whispers in my ear.
"I was gonna say that too!"
