(6) A ball is it?

Peridot POV
We walk into school on an October morning, we then see posters for the Autumn Ball.
"Ugh I hate this!"
Lapis looks at me.
"Why?"
"Cause I'm never asked, I never went cause I'm a loner and I'd feel left out!"
Lapis has the expression of that she has an idea.
"We could go together!"
I blush madly, she then realised what she said and blushes.
"I-I mean, AS FRIENDS!! Yes! As friends!"
I think about it.
"Sure!"
"Yes!"
We continue our walk to class. I hoped she felt the same but, maybe she just wants to be friends.
Lapis POV
I walk to class, 'Why did I say as friends!? If anything I would like to go as more than friends- Wait! What did I just say?' The thought stayed with me all through the classes, do I like her, or am I just over thinking it?
"Wow I'm gay as fuck..."
I realise I mumbled that.
"What did you say Lazuli?"
I quickly jolt up and look at the teacher, I then blush wildly.
"I-uh..nothing ma'am!"
"Mhmm..."
She doesn't seem convinced but continues the lesson. But I do hear whispers, snickers and I can feel people eye me up, it by far was the most uncomfortable class.

Peridot POV
"Lapis! Lapis! Lapi-"
"What?"
I jump over to her.
"Since the ball is next week lets go shopping for clothes!"
She thinks about it.
"Sure Peri!"
I pouts at her.
"Don't call me Peri!"
She pets my hair.
"But it's so cute!"
I blush madly and start to playfully smack her.
"IM NOT CUTE!"
I didn't think a playful hit would trigger something in her, she clutched her chest and starts to breathe heavily. She drops onto her knees.
"Lapis? Lapis!?!"
She looks up at me desperately
"Peri! Where's my inhaler!?"
I start to freak out.
"YOU HAD AN INHALER!?"
She looks shocked and in pain.
"SHIT I FORGOT TO BRING IT!"
I quickly hug her.
"Breathe Lapis, breathe Lapis!"
I can feel her breathing slow down, I then hear her sob. I kneel down with her, leaving us in a mess on the ground.
"I'm sorry, I should've told you that people hitting me triggers panic attacks.."
I hug her tighter, a tear falling down my cheek.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hit you..."
"But you didn't know-"
"I shouldn't have..."
She stops trying to be dominate.
"Do you feel better?"
She looks at me.
"Yeah.."
"Do you want to go shopping?"
"...yes please."
We headed to the shopping centre in search for dresses. We stopped at a window of a store with a dress that Lapis was very fond of :

She dragged me into the store to ask about it. She got the dress in her size and went to the fitting rooms to try it on.
"I....love it!"
She exclaims.
"Can I see it on you?"
"No! You will wait until next week when it's on!"
"Ugh!"
I groan making Lapis giggle, she comes back out in her normal clothes, pays and then we walk around more.
Lapis POV
"So Peri! What dress do you think on wearing?"
Peridot looked to the side.
"I don't really want a dress..."
I look at her.
"Then what do you want to wear?"
She gulps.
"A tux...?"
"Why are you afraid to tell me this?"
"I don't know, I don't wear girl clothes I just don't feel myself.."
"Well, let's get a tuxedo then!"
She looks at me with literal stars in her eyes.
"Really!?"
"Yes! If you want one get it!"

We both went to the store with them in it, we had an awkward conversation with the man working there, thinking we were buying for someone else. We soon bought it and went home.
