Kadie POV

When I woke up, it was still really early and I could tell that no one had arisen yet, I tried to recollect the events of yesterday but they still seemed a bit hazy, it took me a moment to realise that Nia seemed to be growling in content, and happy “what’s got you so happy” her mood seemed to be rubbing off on me because I found myself smiling “our mate” was all she said to me before, yesterday’s events came rushing back to me in a sudden onslaught of images, the last I recognised as a set of beautiful ocean deep eyes boring into me, a sudden well of emotion threatened to burst out of me, Sky was my mate, my new mate and I was beyond happy.

I felt slightly insecure, we had never discussed his feelings of being with someone, he was closed on the subject of his mate and settling down with someone else, what if he didn’t want this, what if he didn’t feel the same way, what if he still loved his old mate, all this was swirling around threatening to consume me with doubt, I was so distracted that I failed to notice, I wasn’t actually alone in my room until I felt someone shift somewhere to my left, Sonny was lying on the sofa in my room, and Charlie was sleeping on the floor beneath him in a sitting position, on my right Sky seemed to be stationed in a chair watching over me, my heart thumped erratically for a moment happy that he seemed to want to be around me, dispelling for the moment the doubts I had in my head, I glanced down and realised I still had on my dress from last night, I made to get up to shower and change, but my movement seemed to attract the attention of the three guys in the room.

 “Hey guys what, are you all doing in here” I asked them my voice husky from sleep, it was Charlie who answered “ well someone felt the need to go all fight club on us last night, and didn’t stick around for the after party” he gave me a reprimanding look “ Rule 101 in the handbook Kades, never turn your back on your opponent, we were seriously worried about you” “I’m sorry guys, I got kind of distracted” I said then casted a quick glance at Sky, he hadn’t said anything he just looked at me, awe and confusion in his expression, “ yeah about that…” Sonny started before I cut him off “guys I’m going in for a quick shower, you should call Mikey and Jenna in because I’m sure you all want an explanation amongst other things” I directed the last comment at Sky and he nodded indiscreetly, I got off the bed and walked over to the bathroom door “why don’t you all go wash up and meet me here in 20”, “ oh and Kades” I popped my head out the bathroom door “ I’m totally digging the new ink” there was a low growl filtering through the air, he was reacting to the guys familiarity with me I’m sure his wolf didn’t like it, especially considering that they were both unmated, he looked over at me “ 20 minutes” I repeated and then shut the bathroom door.

As I took my shower I wondered how, I was going to explain everything to the guys, and on top of that I knew the reaction to the news on the rogues wouldn’t go down so well, rogues has played a big factor in all of our lives we have all lost members of pack, as well as loved ones through the sporadic and unpredictable nature of the rogues, hence the hostile reaction I initially got when I arrived at Mikey’s pack. Towelling off, I realised I hadn’t brought any clothes in with me, I ventured in to my room and went to my closet only just managing to pull on my clothes before I heard a knocking at the door.

“Come in” I called out as I finished pulling a brush through my wet hair, I set it down and motioned for everyone to come in and get seated, my wolf was calling out for her mate and I had to reign her in, it would be weird for all involved if I acted on the explicit impulses that were running through my mind, amplified by the emotions coming off of my wolf “soon Nia, soon, let me explain what’s going on, look he’s so confused” I was looking over at him and he looked like he was warring with himself, I had a feeling he was arguing with his wolf, the lack of contact between us had to be weighing on him, and he had no method of placating him,  I walked over and slipped my hand through his, feeling the tension ebb away, he looked at me “ I don’t understand, how can this happen?”
