Reaching the pack house was kind of anti-climatic, we had been so much hope into finally getting the answers from the archives that, we felt like we had taken more steps backward than forward. Entering the pack house, the others were surprised at our early return. We were all seated in the living room, and we told them all that had happened. “So where do we go from here, what’s our next steps” Sonny asked.

“I think the next thing we have to do is get a more in depth knowledge of the rogues and the previous battles, in the prophecy it says victory will be brought when it was once lost, we need to find out what happened in previous battles in order to make the outcome of the upcoming one different I’m guessing” the others nodded in agreement, and we decided that we would call the pack Elders and ask them to relate all that they knew on the rogue battles.

So far our thinking has been more on preparation and not so much on reality, we had taken on doing research and no action has taken place, the fact that the rogues have been acting out of character wasn’t lost on us either, normally there was the odd rogue or two that trespassed or skulked around different territories, but reports from other Alphas show that there have been no rogue sightings which is worrying, it shows that something big is about to take place and there is no timeline, if we don’t find out fast.

Summoning the Elders, we sat and waited contemplating what they might say and whether it would be of any help, my gut feeling was that what they were about to say would change everything. The Elders entered and there were 3 of them, one I recognised as the old woman teaching the traditions of the pack to the young members of the pack a couple of weeks back, and beside her sat two male wolves, that looked to be around her age she introduced herself as Edie, and the two guys as Paul and Patrick, they had a calming aura about them, indicating they were wiser and actually knew the meaning of life. We explained all that had happened and that we wished for them to explain about the rogues and the previous battles in order to get a better grasp on how to handle things.

“in order to understand the rogue battles you have to understand, how rogues came about, as you know the invention of packs came about when more and more Alpha wolf bloodlines were created, wolves in general are social animals, and thrive from pack living and the prospect of furthering their bloodline, and carrying on their family genes” began the Edie.

Patrick followed on, “rogues were not always considered rogues, they were merely lone wolves that left their pack wanting the solitary type of life, not all wolves can thrive in a pack, just as not all humans can stand to be around people, there are anomalies in all species, generally lone wolves were considered the older wolves who have either lost their mates or had no family left to anchor them to the pack, but it could branch out to a mated couple wanting to leave and start out on their own or wolves who wish to branch out into new territory, over time the wolves that have the pack seem to become more aggressive and stronger in their nature, by not having contact with others of their kind they become more wolf, and the balance of their human halves seem to dwindle.” He paused, Edie looked over at me, “your good for the pack, over time it seems to have lost its way, although it was a training technique by telling the pack to try and bond with their wolves and be at one you have taken away that rogue gene that thrives on separation between a human and their wolf.” I nodded in understanding.

Patrick continued, “with the rise in lone wolves, the council found that there was no clear way to monitor and control what they did because they had no pack that was responsible for them, and with no permanent position, there is no way to hold them for their actions should they commit any indiscretions, the council issues a ultimatum, either the rogues join their nearest pack or they will  undergo a punishment, as harsh as the warning was it served as a purpose to eliminate the threat of exposure, rogues could reveal themselves to humans, having no thought of authority, or part of our wolf culture, a lone wolf has the solitary gene instilled in them so to be forced to become part of a pack was the furthest action from their mind that they wanted to take, but a risk of punishment from the council was too much to risk. A lone wolf named Aiden, was a direct descendent from the King, he had strong genes but they didn’t consist of staying in a pack, so with Alpha blood in his system he had the ability to command others, he came across a band of rogues and he heard about the command issues by the council, not liking the lack of choice, he decided to form a pack of rogues to band against the council and other packs, and make a stand against the ruling”
