With the stress of the battle out of the way and the seriousness gone from our everyday reality, the actuality of the living conditions and spacing started to sink in, the fights had already started within the packs, and immaturity was being displayed on the highest scale along with drawing the attention of the local humans who lived around here realising there was a high influx of people. So after the council agreed to all the changes that had been made, and Grey had overseen them, the other packs started to filter off, with a promise to stay in touch, as a Peacekeeper I would be seeing a lot of these packs anyway, but I liked the idea that we were now a lot closer and a connection with each of these packs had been formed.

By the end of the week everything seemed to have settled down and only Mikey and Ellis’s packs remained, Winter seemed a little reluctant to leave the only home she had known, especially considering all familial ties had gone, I was quick to set her straight and let her know that even though we were not family by blood, we were family in every sense of the word, and she would always be welcome in this pack. With that having been clarified they were set to leave tomorrow, so we were throwing a goodbye dinner, for them and the rest of their pack. In the couple months that we had been together training friendships had been forged, there was no doubt in my mind that our packs would be in constant contact, both Sky and I liked Ellis and considered ourselves good friends, this really was a new age for the wolves, where affiliations now consisted of unity rather than, dissolution and separation.

It seemed that as life was calming down, my sickness was acting up, expecting a baby was no easy fete, I was now getting sick constantly, and couldn’t stomach the sight of food, and I’m thinking for the first time ever that Sky is a bit miffed that our mating connection is so strong, because every time I get sick everything I’m experiencing hit’s him so he can’t eat either, which amuses me to no end, you know what they say about Karma right? I think it’s only to right if a guy helps create a baby he should share in every experience also, not just the tamed down version of holding your hand through the birth and the scans, he should go through the pain and the sickness and the back and body pains I know will eventually creep in.

Mikey and the rest of the guys find it funny, namely because Mikey didn’t experience any of what Sky is going through, Jenna caught him ribbing Sky about it and asked him a loaded question, something along the lines of their mating bond not being as strong as ours otherwise he too would have felt her pain and discomfort, of course he shut up then, mumbling and stuttering about, every couple being different, and how special and beautiful she was, glaring at all the guys, who were trying to hide their snickering and whipping motions behind her back.

Jenna looked about ready to pop, she had about 3 weeks left to go and we still didn’t know what she was having, they wanted it to be a surprise, with wolf pregnancies the gestation period was a lot shorter than normal human pregnancies, which could be a curse and a blessing at the same time, depending on what way you looked at it. Jenna’s hormones seemed to have hit the Richter scale so everyone was treading on eggshells around her which seemed to provoke her, because she seemed to think she was the sweetest person around and everyone else was exaggerating, something Mikey was to chicken to correct her about.

I found Mikey and Sky talking in his office, it seemed to hush, hush and quiet like they were playing Spies or something, I opened my mouth to make a teasing comment, when a jolt of nausea shot through me, “that’s what you get for trying to be mean”  Sky said through our link, another thing that made me happy was that now that everything was over and done with the bond between Sky and I had grown and evolved, our mating had been through a busy and tense time, if we weren’t preparing for the battle and researching the prophecy, we were worried about Dean and the pack, with everything out of the way, our old camaraderie was back and we found ourselves teasing and playing with one another like we used to when we were just friends, the element adding another layer to our already cemented bond.
