Chapter 25

Hey guys it’s a short chapter more of a filler than anything, I’m shattered from work, and I’m not feeling too well but I didn’t want to disappoint considering I didn’t upload yesterday.

Enjoy.

The pack seemed to be making progress and getting better as the days passed, Ellis’s pack would be arriving tomorrow, we weren’t sure how it was going to work having three packs combined and three Alphas under one roof, but considering what we were doing this for, they just needed to suck it up, and put aside their ego’s. I had been working with the children of the pack when I wasn’t training the adult’s, to many packs had lost their younger members because they were vulnerable and defenceless, by giving them some level of training there was hope that they would gain confidence, and better prepared for the unexpected.

We had checked up with the other Alphas and everything seemed to be going as planned, we were still in early stages so progress couldn’t really be measured. Our days were packed with all the preparation for the battle, during the evenings after training I would sit with the pack Elders and try and learn all I could, trying to come up with an alternative to fighting, the more I learned, the less likely it seemed that there could be another solution, the problem wasn’t the lone wolf gene, because that could be combatted, their wolves can gradually be integrated into the pack. The problem lay with the lone wolves wanting to live a solitary life and not try to adapt their nature, in doing so they lost their human halves, in the end it all came down to choice. It was through choice that I would have to make a decision that would, decide the fate of our packs, and that of the rogues, it was through choice that I would determine the existence of our kind, in the end it all came down to: Pack/Rogues.

Not a hard decision for most, but for me it felt like the world was settled on my shoulders not all rogues were bad, and what they were asking for seemed reasonable in a logical sense, freedom should never be withheld from anyone, but the reasoning behind the warning meant safety for all, either way the solution, would not be satisfactory or fair, and how could I live with that?

With the new pack coming, festivities had to be planned so all the packs could integrate properly, some of the members had found their mates when we last had our get together with Mikey’s pack, and I assume the same thing would happen this time around, I had my fingers crossed that Sonny would find his mate, he was the last of the gang and him not having a mate kind of broke my heart he seemed slightly lost without Charlie, who spent all of his free time with Amie-Lynne, not that I blame him, the first few weeks of a mating can be intense, somehow Sky and I had skipped that phase, but I needed to see Sonny happy especially because the future was so unpredictable and uncertain.

Along with the changes in the pack came a surprising change in some of its member’s Winter and Ashley in particular, Winter had taken on a more active role in the pack, acting as liaison for the younger members of the pack and ensuring that everything ran a little more smoothly, it was with her help that we got all the preparations done for the bonfire tomorrow, with the three packs there was three times as much stuff to prepare, she brought reinforcements, and we managed to get everything done. Inside I was quietly thrilled that she had come out of her shell, and seemed happier. I pulled her aside when everyone was distracted with their individual tasks and asked her how everything was going at home, I was worried that things hadn’t gotten better with her father. She told me that because of her rise in confidence she was rarely at home anymore, hanging out at the pack house more and more. She told me that her father had noticed her growing absence because of the things that weren’t being done around the house like the cooking and the cleaning, realisation seemed to hit him and he was ashamed of his behaviour and the fact that she had taken on a wifely role rather than living her life like a child should, he felt that he had disappointed her and he had disappointed his wife. Although he wished to be with his wife and end everything, the need to make amends and ensure Winter was going to be okay was more intense.
