Skin is something that you either don't think about or think about all the time, for me it's the latter. It can make me feel super insecure and self conscious but luckily, I've realized that there are so many products and things made to help. Here's some of my personal favorites and other amazing products that I've heard great things about!

[Disclaimer: Not everything listed here will be ideal for your skin type. I recommend doing a patch test on a small area before using the entire application if you are trying out a product for the first time. Also, remember that great skin isn't only what you put ON your skin but what you put IN your body :)]

Acne, Oily, and/or Troubled Skin:

Acne.org - This site has so so many great products to help acne prone skin. I've used the 3 step kit and it worked really well! As of now, I am not using the line but it has so many great reviews, so if you'd like, highlight the website name and click look up :)

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion - So many celebrities and models use this products so you may have heard of this product before. It's a pink spot treatment for zits and reduces the size of pimples overnight! Mario Badescu's other acne products are also great, and don't include too many harsh chemicals.

Clinique 3-Step Kit- This kit comes with a foamy cleanser, toner, and clearing treatment lotion. It's pretty simple to use and very effective for everyday use.

Lush Face Masks and Products- I personally haven't tried Lush's products but I've heard such amazing things about their skincare stuff and read a billion and one reviews. Mask of Magnaminty is one of the most popular masks for troubled, acne prone skin. Some other raved about products by them that are great for controlling acne are Grease Lightning (spot treatment) and Coalface, Dark Angels, and Herbalism cleansers. The best thing about this company is that their ingredients are all natural, vegan, and cruelty free so you don't have to feel bad about what you're putting on your face.

Apple Cider Vinegar Toner- This DIY toner is great for oily and/or acne-prone skin. All you need is pure organic apple cider vinegar (Bragg's) and distilled water. Just mix equal parts of each liquid and pour it into a small travel size spray bottle. After cleansing and patting my face dry, I spray it all over my face morning and night and pat it in to make sure it's absorbed. This toner is antibacterial and balances out your pH levels, plus it's super affordable and easy to make at home!

Aloe Vera Gel- I'm sure you all know aloe vera is a natural 'sap' used to soothe sunburns and stuff. It's also good for calming redness and any freshly popped zits (i strongly do NOT recommend picking or popping pimples!)

Witch Hazel- Okayy witch hazel is becoming a very popular natural toner for troubled skin. It is anti-inflammatory and balances out your skin tone. Make sure to get the purest form for best results!

Neosporin- I highly recommend dabbing a small amount of Neosporin on any popped pimples. It quickens the healing process, relieves any pain, and will prevent infections that may cause more pimples in the same area.

Chamomile and Dandelion Root tea- Chamomile is known to be 'calming' and great for anyone who is stressed (me). Drinking a cup a day will help you feel calmer and less stressed which is good for your skin since stress can trigger pimples to pop up. It can also be use topically by putting activated chamomile tea bags in the fridge, and once it's cool enough, hold it over troubled areas of your face. You can soak a washcloth with some cooled chamomile tea and use it as a compress. Dandelion Root tea targets the liver which can cause acne in your forehead. Also, try to go to sleep no later than 11 and get enough sleep so that your liver can function effectively. (Both teas are caffeine-free).

Honey- Honey has so so many benefits! It's antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, full of antioxidants, etc. (see Bee Movie for more benefits lol im kidding) So it's perfect for acne, especially in DIY masks.

-----

Fresh- This website has such great high-quality lotions and moisturizers for all types of skin and their products are packed with unique ingredients. A few of their most popular are the Lotus Youth Preserve cream, Soy face cleanser, and face masks. Although most of their stuff isn't exactly affordable, it's definitely worth the splurge.

Pixie Glow Tonic- I've heard so many great reviews about this product. It's a toner that includes aloe and ginseng and all that great stuff, and apparently leaves your skin hydrated with a fresh glow.

Bioderma Micellar Water- This is the purest form of micellar water I've found so far. It removes makeup gently yet effectively without annoying greasy residue, balances out skin tone, and doesn't include many harsh chemicals.

Glam Glow Mud Mask- You've probably heard of this product before if you've spent any time watching skincare routines on Youtube. This is by far the most popular mask I've come across online. It's [obviously] a mud mask so it draws out dirt and bacteria and all that.

Clarisonic/Vanity Planet Spinbrushes- I haven't tried these out yet but again, they're basically in every skincare video ever and my mom has one. Spinbrushes exfoliate your skin way better than your hands do, so they draw out more dirt, dead skin, and leftover makeup you didn't even know was still there. I wouldn't recommend using a spinbrush everyday though if your skin is super sensitive but it's 100% worth a try!

Hope you all found this somewhat helpful! This was actually really fun for me, I have no idea why. I'm really surprised I didn't have to look up most of this. Oh and even if your skin isn't really troubled or acne prone, I still recommend that you try out some of the stuff i mentioned in that section too! Also, check out my Clear Skin Tips chapter if you're looking for additional tips. Good luck :)
