Chapter one
——————
||•The hot lawnmower•||Just like in the books, I've always wanted a fun and loving guy. Imaging meeting someone with a great personality or to simply put it, the male version of you. Someone that would ride for you as much as you would ride for them. A guy who wants the best for you.
I don't mind the little arguments, Agreeing to disagree. I mean, that's what makes a couple isn't it? I want someone I can win with.
Girl quit dreaming. You want way too much.
My parents bring this cute guy to mow our lawn every once in awhile. He lived not far from me—seven minutes walk. I've never witnessed cutting grass to be this entertaining. In my case, I was watching an MA movie with my parents. Yes, some people usually leave when the kissing scene comes on but I didn't want to leave.
My parents situated themselves at the front of the house, watching him cut the grass they couldn't cut, at the same time lecturing me. My mum would say something like, "If not only because we have lazy children and none of them is a man" may I remind you, I was standing right next to them. They see me and I see them.
"You, go get us water," mum demanded. As I tried to make my way to the door, I missed a step and tripped. Great. I looked over the lawnmower's way and he was chuckling. He was the most beautiful man I've ever seen. I need to stop fantasising over him, I told myself.
"Will you watch where you're going young lady. I'm not trying to take your a*s to the hospital this afternoon." What a loving mother.
I handed my parents their water and accidentally spilled some on my mum. "Child what is wrong with you today? Terry please talk to your daughter."
The lawnmower took his shirt off and I almost fainted. Why was he doing this? He sure was doing it on purpose and his body was a blessing from the Man Upstairs Himself. Lordy. Gym do people good, I said to myself.
You can't relate because you've never set a foot inside a gym, in your life.
Can't blame me. Some people enjoy eating food in bed while watching tv and I found myself to be one of them.
My attention was not with my parents at all. I don't know why they bother speaking to someone that was not there mentally.
My mum asked me where my sister was and I said, "Mmm I'll get you some more water."
I slowly turned to look at my parents who were now staring at me as if I was some crazy possessed daughter of theirs.
"Something on my face?"
"Girl what are you talking about, I asked you where your sister was?"
Well wasn't that awkward.
"She's at uni, she'll come later Ma." My parents were leaving to visit my uncle and his family for the rest of the day.
"Make sure you look after the house and wash them dishes in the sink." She went inside to get changed and so did Pops.
I wish black people can have dish washers. Genius people have invented useful tools. The tools deserved to be put into use.
I didn't want to make it obvious that I was checking him out as I make my way to the door when he stopped me.
"Princess, come here."
It wasn't as I imagined, I thought I would get to him quicker like he summoned me but I was taking my time getting to him. I scanned around to see if anyone was around to witness this beautiful black man in front of me.
"What do you want garden boy?"
He pretended to be shook dramatically. "I just wanna say close your mouth before something gets in." He winked at me and attended to his duty.
What an as*hole.
