Chapter twenty-nine
———————————
||•I miss him•||Three days without speaking to my best friend had been hell for me. We haven't had a fight that had lasted for three days since kindergarten when he took my crayons. We got used to sorting things out before the next day but this time was different.
My parents used to tell us, "life is short. You don't know what will happen tomorrow." They've been telling us how they both held a grudge against someone and the person was no longer with them.
Tee and I later found out it wasn't true. My parents just made it up. We were around the age of thirteen. We joked about taking them to court for spreading false information. We practiced our case but didn't stand a chance against them.
Nick announced himself when he was knocking on my door. "Come in." He was staying with us for now.
"I come in peace." It was funny because I yelled at Ferry when she tried to come into my room earlier. I almost laughed because he surrendered.
"You miss him, don't you?" As much as I hated to admit it, I did miss my best friend and maybe it was best I went to see him. I knew exactly where he was.
"Can I lie and say I don't." Nick shook his head. I found myself scrolling through instagram and landed on his page. He always post me on social media, we're honestly goals.
"You know where he is."
"See you later suckers." I ran for the door. Ferry knew where I was going for sure. She smiled and carry on with what she was doing.
Tee's workplace was ten minutes drive which felt like hours getting there. I love the boy enough to risk my life but not enough to risk my license especially if he was not in any danger. I practised my apologies the entire ride.
"You made me upset and hurt me. I will forgive you, if you don't do it again."
"If you didn't behaved dumb, I wouldn't have kicked you out."
"Okay, I've decided to forgive you. Now let's go get food. You're paying."
"This is all your fault. I will give you a chance to apologise to me."
"It's fair and grown up of me to let you apologise. I will listen to what you have to say, the reason why you did what you did and said what you said."
I finally decided on the perfect one. I parked She and entered his workplace.
"Hey Brody."
"Hello Fenty, he's in the men's room." When he saw the urge of me wanting to enter the bathroom, he added, "B-but I'm sure you can wait here. I'll get you something to eat."
Brody is Tee's manager. My best friend works at one of the expensive restaurants. I eat here a lot, I don't pay for meals because he does.
"I'll just add it on Tee's tab...like always."
"You know me well."
Tee gave me a scare when he came out, causing me to jump. "It's on my tap, ain't it?" I looked up at him with a moth full of food.
"Since when did I ever pay for food here?" He nod-danced his head.
"I don't wanna fight with you. I'm not sorry about what I said in the room but I am sorry for how I went about it. Sorry for kicking you out. You are my best friend you know me better than anyone. You can have my food as a peace offering. "
He slid into the seat in front of me and ate from the plate. "One, you always mess up apologies at the end. If you wanna offer me something, pay for it not when I'm paying for. Two, I know you're horrible with apologies but thank you. Three, I'm sorry too. I didn't realise how much I was hurting you."
He told me he wouldn't have left, even if I kicked him out multiple times, but because his mum told him to leave, if I was still upset.
I knew there was something odd about him leaving. He usually pissed me off by making himself comfortable watching tv and drinking his stupid PineGo every time we had an argument.
"I'll wait for you till you finish your shift." him and I were cool, the unsaid was for later.
"No, you're going to eat all the food on the menu. Go wait home I'll come as soon as I take a shower at mine."
Shamelessly I would.
"Bye Brody." He waved and got back to his customers. Tee's break was over and before I could leave, I saw him chatting and laughing with the customers. I missed his laugh, silly comments and him always making fun of me.
I received a text from Mrs Brown."I give you two today to sort whatever is going on. Also I'm at Mr Brown's. Tell Ferry to make dinner." I was about to mock her about Mr Brown by typing, "oh get ya freak on.." But another message came through. It read, 'don't even think about it' and I deleted what I typed and replied with 'okay to everything'.
"Oi my PineGo finished?" my mum bought two packages before she was gone. They lastEd long because there was about thirty in a package and the only person that was drinking them was the lover. I'm guessing he finished them without knowing.
"Mrs Magoro might have forgotten to buy them today-" He was going to through the cupboards when he stopped half way and tears almost rolled down his face. "I forgot." I hugged him from behind, "We'll just check her calendar where she used to buy them."
PineGo was a symbol of their relationship.
