Melody's POV

As I make my way down Rodeo Drive, (yes, I said Rodeo Drive, as in Beverly Hills, California. Get used to it.) I stop in front of one of my favorite stores. What is this store, you ask? This lovely little store, my friend, is Gucci. Everything in here is very expensive, but that doesn't really matter to me. My Daddy owns a large chain of hotels around California, the Taylor Hotels. They were named the 'Taylor' hotels because 'Taylor' is a family name. Anyway, he makes a lot of money, so my family is pretty rich, and I get all the benefits from it.

My name is Melody Taylor, and I'm 21 years old. I live here in the perfect little land of Beverly Hills, California. I have long, dark brown hair and green eyes. My parents are very wealthy people, my mother works as a real estate agent, and my father owns a large chain of five star hotels all across California. I, on the other hand, simply live off of my parents money. I have my own apartment, but my parents give me money whenever I ask for it, so I really don't need a job. Some people like to think that the fact that my parents are rich makes me 'stuck up' or 'snobby', but whatever. If they think I'm stuck up, then they just don't know me well enough. Now, where were we? Oh, right, Gucci. Oh how I love me some Gucci!

Walking into Gucci, I'm greeted with Skylar, one of the salespeople in the store. Since I make frequent stops here, pretty much everyone that works here knows me. "Sky! How are you, lovely?" I ask, hugging her. She smiles and hugs me back. "Great! You?" she asks happily. "Oh, I'm fabulous, thanks for asking. What kind of sales do you have for me this week?" I ask, looking around. "Well, we have a discount sale for 20% off anything over $650!" she exclaims. I ponder over that for a moment.

"Okay, thank you! I'm going to look around, so I'll call if I need anything." I say, politely shooing her away. "Okay!" she says, making her way over to a new customer. Browsing through the shelves of shoes, I come across a gorgeous pair of bright, crimson red heels, with a little black bow on the toe of the shoe. Looking at the price tag, I'm blown away by how cheap they are. "Only $600? That's a deal!" I exclaim, trying the shoes on. They're a perfect fit!

"Oh, Skylaaarrr!" I call across the store, running up to Skylar with the shoes in my hand. "Yes, Melody?" she asks, putting a dress onto a hanger to put it on display. "I'm getting these shoes, will you ring me up?" I ask her. "Sure." she agrees, as we walk over to the cash register. She takes the shoes and rings them up. "That will be $602, please." she says, giving me a receipt for the shoes. Taking my wallet out of my purse, I give her $650, since I didn't haven't any smaller bills. "Keep the change, Sky. I gotta run, toodles!" I exclaim, handing her the money, grabbing my shoes from the counter. "Bye, Mel!" she calls as I walk out of the store.

Hopping into my Mercedes Benz that was parked a few stores down, I start the drive back to my apartment. Hearing my phone start ringing, I grab it and answer the call as I come to a stop light. "Hello?" I ask. "Melody, it's me. Can you stop by the house if you have time? My father and I want to talk to you about something." my Mother says on the other line. I sigh, just wanting to go back to my apartment and do what I want to do. But no, I can't. "Fine, I'll be there in about twenty minutes. Bye, Mom." I say, slightly annoyed. "Bye, honey." she says, then I hang up, tossing my phone into the passenger side of my car.

Twenty minutes later, I pull into the driveway of my parents' house. It was a big house, but not extremely huge. In my opinion, they could have built a much nicer house, but oh well. I don't live there anymore, I have my apartment now. Digging around in my purse, I pull out the spare key to the house that my Dad gave me in case there was ever an 'emergency'. Yeah, like the house is going to magically burst into flames or something. Sighing, I unlock the door and let myself inside.

"I'm home!" I call, waiting for a response. "In the living room, Mel!" my Dad calls. I nod and walk into the living room of the house, and I'm greeted with both of my parents. They both come up and hug me. "Have a seat, honey." my Mom says, gesturing to the chair across from them. "This better not take long, I have a new pair of shoes to show off, and I wasn't planning on coming here in the first place." I say, slightly annoyed. My time is valuable, people!

"Well, your shoes can wait. We have a lot to discuss." my Dad says, his tone serious. I huff, and sit down in the chair. "Melody, your father and I have noticed a change in your attitude." my Mom starts. "And? What about my attitude?" I reply, itching to hurry this up and get home. "That. That right there, Melody. You have been acting very rude and disrespectful lately, and it needs to change." my Dad says sternly. I scoff. "Rude? If I'm rude to anyone it's because they gave me a reason to be." I say, defending myself.

"No, they didn't. And you've also been making immature decisions as far as money is concerned. How much did those shoes you just bought cost?" my Mom asks me, giving me 'the look' that only a mother could give. "They were $600, but it was worth it!" I exclaim. My parents sigh, obviously not happy with my response.

"Listen, Melody. We love you, even though it seems like we don't sometimes, since we're both always busy with work. But your mother and I have been talking about this for a few weeks now, and we both agree that this would be a good experience for you." my Dad begins, leaning forward in his seat. "What now?" I snap, not looking forward to whatever it was they're getting ready to say. "Now before we tell you, you have to know that we're doing this to help you, not to make you angry." my Mom says, her tone softening.

"What?" I ask again, growing impatient. My Dad speaks up.

"Melody, we're sending you to Nashville, Tennessee for the summer to try and get your attitude cleaned up."

I sit there in disbelief at what I just heard. Nashville? Like, where the southern people live? And where people like, ride around on gross, smelly horses all day? No, I couldn't have heard that right. "You're kidding, right?" I ask, still shocked. "No, we're dead serious, Mel. You're going to spend the summer in Nashville. We just think that maybe getting you away from Beverly Hills for a while would be good for you, it might help your attitude on things." my Mom explains.

"Oh, so you're just going to stick me on a plane to fly out to a new place where I don't know anyone, and everyone has that stupid southern accent that I can't stand, and where they always listen to that horrid country music? You're sending me there? Out of all the places in the world, you choose Nashville? You know I hate southern places like that! It's always so hot, and that music, oh how I can't stand the country crap they listen to! And don't even get me started on the clothing they wear. They wouldn't spend more than $30 on a pair of shoes, I bet you!" I exclaim, getting angry.

"Look, Melody. We've already made the decision, you're going to spend the summer in Nashville and that's final. You're flight leaves in a week, so you might want to start telling your friends goodbye and such. You can always call them, if you want, while you're away, you know. Your mom and I have to go, we have a dinner party to attend for my company. Lock the door when you leave, call if you need anything, and we'll talk more about Nashville tomorrow. Love you, honey!" my Dad exclaims, hugging me, before grabbing his coat. My mom kisses my cheek, grabs her purse, then they're gone.

Nashville. Even the word itself sounds disgusting. Well, my life is officially over.
