***I couldn't resist writing another chapter today....I just had to!***
Melody's POV
After hanging up the phone with Hunter just moments ago, I begin to wonder if I'm going insane. What did I just do? Better yet, why did I agree to do it? Oh yeah! Because I'm stupid and just completely ignored everything I had told myself about not involving myself with Hunter!
I should really start listening to myself more often, and keeping my word to myself.
It would make things around here a lot easier.
But no. I had to give in to Hunter, with his, his, oh, stop it, Melody! I've already gotten myself into practically going on a date with the guy, I can't let myself start thinking about him like that!
Wait....I have a date. With Hunter.
In an hour.
Well, looks like I'll be spending the next hour in my bathroom getting ready. And mentally kicking myself for what just happened on the phone with Hunter. That, too.
I walk into my closet and look for something to wear, settling on a pale blue dress with a black belt around the waist. It was a cotton dress, reaching down to just above my knee. It had simple, black detailing towards the bottom of the skirt, and it was one of my more casual dresses. After changing into my dress, I decide to plug in my flat iron and attempt to straighten my hair. Seeing as it's naturally wavy, sometimes it can be hard to straighten.
While my flat iron heats up, I start on my makeup. I apply my usual face makeup, then apply a thin line of black eyeliner on my top and bottom lash lines, finishing my eyes off with some black mascara. After that, I apply some chapstick, completeing my makeup with a nude colored lip gloss. I figured Hunter would want me to lay off the full face of dramatic makeup, and go for a more casual outfit, and-wait! What am I talking about, trying to look pretty and impress Hunter? I mean yeah, I want to look nice, but I look nice for myself. Not boys.
Thirty minutes later, I have my hair completly straightened to perfection. Pulling out a sparkly clip from my hair accesories drawer, I twist my bangs back and clip them in place. "Perfect." I say to myself, looking in the mirror. Checking the time on my phone, I see that I have ten minutes to get to the Italian place to meet Hunter, which is perfect timing for me since it's only downtown. I walk back into my room and grab my black purse, putting my phone and wallet inside.
Once I have my purse, I put on some black wedges, which were only two inches tall. Normally, I wear four inch heels, four inches being a minimum. So, to say that wearing two inch heels felt a bit odd is an understatement. Moments later, I'm ready to go. I head outside to my car and pull out of the driveway, making the short ride to the Italian restaurant.
Ten minutes later, I pull into the restaurant parking lot. I step out of my car, and see Hunter sitting on a bench just outside the restaurant. He smiles, walking over to me. "You look nice." he compliments, as we walk inside, him pulling open the door for me. "Thanks, you too." I reply. He was wearing a white, button down shirt with a black dress jacket and nice blue jeans. His old, worn out converse were replaced with some dress shoes. His hair was styled in its usual way, combed and slicked over to the side.
A hostess led us to a booth, gave us our menus, then walked away as we sat down. "So, uh, hi." Hunter says, looking at me from across the table. "Hi." I answer awkwardly, forcing a small grin. Play nice, Melody. That's what this dinner is all about. I remind myself. I have a feeling this will be a long night.
