***Hello! So, I feel bad. I never have anything interesting to say up in these author's notes! I used to, when I had first started on Wattpad, but lately it's just been ''Hey guys! Here's chapter so and so" Let's change that, yeah? Alrighty! How've ya'll been? Good? Bad? Hayestastic? ;) Oh, and real quick, I have 2 weeks of summer break left, (NOOO), meaning when school starts back, updates will go back to being just once a week, like they used to be. Just a heads up, so please be patient when school rolls around!***
Melody's POV
I stared down at my phone, in disbelief. Why is it that he always contacts me when I least expect it?
Better yet, when I least want to talk to him?
Sighing, I hesitantly open the message. As I read it, I realize that he doesn't know that I've left Nashville.
From: Hunter
Hey, we're coming back to Nashville in two weeks, when we get back do you wanna chat? Catch up with each other? See if you hate me any less? :)
I have no idea what to think about him at this point. Honestly, my mind is crowded with a bunch of emotions and I don't know how to handle it. I open a new message and text him back.
To: Hunter
I'm on a plane right now, flying back to California.
I know I could've at least said something a little better than 'Oh, I'm on a plane going back to California', but I'm not in the mood to be descriptive today. A few minutes later, he answered back.
From: Hunter
Oh...I thought you still had a week or two left in Nashville. Well, we'll actually be doing a show in California in a few weeks, maybe I could see you then?
I texted him back, then stared out the window of the plane. He was the last thing I wanted to have to think about today, and he wasn't helping that whole situation.
To: Hunter
Look, Hunter. Just give it up with me, okay? I don't want to hang out with you, much less talk to you. So please, just let me go back and live my life in California and pretend we never even met.
He answered almost instantly.

If you insist, whatever makes you happy. Have a safe flight.
I could almost picture him saying that, his expression hurt, his eyes no longer bright blue, but instead a light grey. Even though his response made me feel guilty, it was for the best. I know he's probably a good guy, but even still, I can't and won't let my heart risk getting broken.
Five hours later, the plane was landed, and I stood in the airport with my luggage in hand, scanning the crowd for my parents. Once I'd spotted the familiar head of short, curly brown hair that belonged to my mother, I walked over to her. She met me in the middle, hugging me close.
"I missed you, sweetheart," she says, pulling away after a moment. Normally, I would want to skip the small talk and just go home, but I was glad to see her. "I missed you, too," I answer, adjusting my purse on my shoulder. "Let's get you back to your apartment, yeah?" she asked, taking one of my suitcases for me. I nod, yawning. "I'm sleepy," I say, rubbing my eyes.
