Hunter's POV- 3 weeks later
We finally get to head back to Nashville for a few days! We've been on the road for almost two and a half months, and we have another two to go after this. I just want to see Melody more than anything. It's been way too long without her, and if I could, I'd bring her on tour with us, but I doubt that'd be a good idea. One reason being that no one, not even the band or my parents at that, know we're together yet. And secondly, for the past week or two, Danielle has been acting a bit flirty around me. I can't tell her to stop without confessing about Melody, but she has no idea I'm taken. I try to not lead her on, but I can't be rude to her by completely ignoring her for good. Plus, I've got a feeling that Melody would not be too thrilled about a girl she's never met flirting with me, regardless of if she knows I'm taken or not.
Melody has no idea we're coming back for a few days. All I've told her is that I'd be home soon, but to her, soon could be anywhere from two weeks to two hours. Well, I mean, we just crossed the border into Tennessee, so we'll be in Nashville in a few hours. I can't wait to surprise her, her face will be priceless! As I check the time on my phone, I see a figure standing over me from my spot on the leather couch in the bus. Looking up, I see a familiar head of long, blonde hair. I quietly sigh, putting my phone in my pocket.
"Hey, Danielle," I greet, giving her a small nod. Everyone was chilling out on her bus today, except for our bands. They were all piled onto my bus. She smiled, sitting next to me. A little too close, if you ask me. There was about four inches of space between us. "Hey," she replies, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"You excited to be back in Nashville for a few days?" she asks, absentmindedly chipping at her dark blue nail polish. "Yeah, it'll be nice to have a little break," I answer. "Who's that?" she questions, peering over at my phone as I slid it out of my pocket. Someone had texted me. It was Melody.
Well, dang.
Perfect timing, Mel.
"Someone," I answer, smirking. I wasn't giving up that easily. She nodded, seeming a bit unconvinced. "Ah, I see. Well, I'll leave you alone. I'm gonna go call my parents and tell them we're on our way back to Nashville," she explains, standing up before disappearing into the back of the bus. "Okay," I mutter, my focus on the text Melody had sent just moments ago.
I told her I'd see her soon, little did she know that 'soon' was in about two hours.
2 hours later
"We're here, everyone," Shay calls from the front of the bus. The bus parked in the back of the Nashville airport parking lot, where our cars were waiting for us so we could go home. We all made a mad dash for the bus door, eager to get out. We didn't even bother taking our suitcases from our own buses before we left, I mean, we'd be back on the buses in two days anyway.
"Later, guys,'' Dan calls, as he gets into his car to leave. "See ya'll in a few days," Shay calls shortly after, climbing into his car and driving away. It was just Danielle and I. My band was the first to leave, and Danielle's band was busy chatting away about who knows what, so I doubt they noticed us. "Bye, Hunter," she says, flashing a smile my way before waving at me as she climbed up into her silver Ford pickup truck. "Later," I wave, walking over to my car. She pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main highway. I sat in the driver's seat of my car, dialing Melody's number into my phone.
