***Hey guys! I (shockingly) don't really have anything random to say here so....yeah! Hope you enjoy the chapter!***
Melody's POV
Hunter and I finally decided on a movie to watch. He'd insisted on watching Abduction, the movie with Lilly Collins and Taylor Lautner playing the main characters. It was one of the few good movies I owned, and I hadn't seen it in a long time. About halfway into the movie, Hunter hit the 'pause' button on the remote, and turned to face me.
"Hunter?!" I whine, pouting that he'd paused the movie. "I want to ask you something," he started, having a curious glimmer in his eyes that I could only see when the light of the movie screen reflected off of his eyes. I sigh, clapping my hands twice to make the living room lights come on.
Yes, I have those fancy 'clapping' lights.
"What now?" I ask, turning myself around to face him. "I want you to come to Nashville with me, once the tour is over," he answered, excitement clear on his face. I almost choked on the soda I was drinking. "What?! No way am I going back to Nashville!" I exclaim, giving him a 'duh' expression. He shook his head, laughing. "No, like I..I just want you to give Nashville a second chance. I feel like maybe we'd be better friends with each other if we spent more time together. I mean, don't you have a house up there?" he asks, looking like he was about to jump for joy at the idea he'd just came up with.
"Well, yes, I have a house up there but,"
"But what?"
Sighing, I run a hand through my hair. "First of all, I hated Nashville when I stayed there the first time, and second of all, are you sure this 'friendship theory' of yours would even work? For all we know, it could make us hate each other even more," I explain, looking at him. He grins. "First of all," he started, copying me. I smirk, letting out a laugh. "You only hated Nashville because you were forced to go there, and second of all, I don't know if it would work, but what's the harm in trying?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow, smirking back at me.
That stupid smirk.
It's a stupid smirk, but it's a cute smirk at the same time.
That stupid smirk.
"I don't know," I say after thinking about his offer for a moment. "You don't have to have an answer right this second, but I have about another month and a half until the tour's over. I'll make you a deal, seeing as you made me one earlier," he starts, a flicker of curiousity washing over his face.
"Alright, what is it?" I ask curiously. "I'll text you a few days before I get back to Nashville at the end of the tour, and if you decide you want to come, we'll talk about it then. But for now, we'll forget I even asked?" he asks. I extend my hand out to his. "You've got a deal, Hayes," I answer, raising an eyebrow. "Yes! Victory! You'll love Nashville, I promise," he exclaims happily, a twinkle in his eyes. "I never agreed to go, I just agreed that we'd talk about me going when you get back from the tour," I remind him, laughing. "I've got a feeling you'll come back. Everyone always does," he answers, playing the movie.
A few minutes after he'd started the movie again, I started shivering. He took notice of this, and looked at me. "You cold?" he asks, concern lingering in his voice. "A little, but I'm fine," I answer, wrapping my arms around myself as if to prove a point. He chuckled, getting up to reach for the blanket that was on the other side of the couch we were sitting on. "The fact that you're shivering begs to differ," he said, draping the blanket over my shoulders. "Shut up," I say, hugging the blanket closer to myself. He laughed, returning his attention back to the movie.
I felt myself getting tired after a few minutes. There was at least another half hour of the movie left, but I knew that I'd fall asleep soon. Yawning, I cover my mouth with my hand as I slightly scoot closer to Hunter. "Tired?" he questions, looking down at me. I nod, not even bothering to answer with words. "Here," he said, putting an arm around me, pulling me closer to him so that my head was resting on his shoulder and I had no choice but to snuggle up to him. I tensed up, feeling a bit awkward at the fact I was cuddled up to him like this. "Just as friends, remember?" he said quietly, reassuring me. I nodded, letting myself relax into his grasp. He felt warm, his embrace was firm but comfy at the same time.
Grabbing the remote, I stop the movie. "What was that for? It's almost over!" Hunter exclaims, looking at me. "I know, but I'm tired and if I stay awake much longer, I'll end up falling asleep," I exclaim, standing up as he let me out of his arms. "I take that as a sign that I should be going," he said, chuckling. "It's getting late anyways," I say, stretching. He started to grab the empty pizza boxes, along with the other trash that was scattered on the table. "I've got it. I'll clean up tomorrow," I tell him, taking the boxes out of his arms. "Are you sure? I don't mind," he protests. "No, it's fine. I'll get it later. You should be going, you're band is probably wondering where you've been for the past few hours," I say, laughing.
He grabbed his car keys from the table, along with his cell phone. "I guess I'll talk to you soon?" he asks, as we walk to the front door of my apartment. "Yeah," I answer with a yawn. He smiled. "Well, I'll be going, then. You should get some sleep anyway," he said, looking at the watch on his wrist. He gave me a quick wave, then reached for the door handle.
"Wait,"
Turning around, he faces me. "Yes?" he asks curiously. I hesitantly wrap my arms around his neck, standing on my tip toes to reach him. He pats my back, just as hesitantly as I'd hugged him. "I, uh, thanks. For putting up with me, I mean," I say, scratching the back of my neck. "That hug...that didn't mean anything, did-"
"No, just as friends, remember?" I question, repeating what he'd asked me earlier.
"Alright. And it's no problem, honestly. I don't consider it 'putting up' with you, though. It's more like a love-hate relationship, but it's about sixy five percent love, thirty five percent hate," he answers, a sheepish grin on his face. "Hunter Hayes is capable of hating someone?" I ask, pretending to be shocked. He jokingly shoved my shoulder, careful to not be too hard with his push, since he was so much stronger than me. "Not really 'hate', that's too strong of a word. More like...I don't know. I don't hate you though, I can tell you that much," he reassured. "Fair enough," I answer, chuckling.
He leaned down and gently hugged me with one arm. It was a quick, two second side hug, but it was still a hug. "I'll see you around," he said with a small smile. I return the grin, looking up at him. "Just as friends," he repeated, referring to the hug as he walked out the door.
"Just as freinds," I said, giving him a quick wave before he disappeared down the hallway.
~1 1/2 months later (Melody's POV)~
The sunlight peeked through the blinds on my windows, and I heard birds chirping outside. Turning myself around in my bed, I grab my phone and check the time. It was almost nine in the morning, and that's considered early for me. I see Hunter's name flash above my messages app, signaling he was texting me.
"Perfect timing, Hayes," I say to myself, opening the message.

I smiled, typing an answer back as I slowly got out of bed.

Hey, and yes! I remember.
Not even two minutes later, he answered me.
