More Than Friends

Chapter 9 - Date.

By the time I got home I was starting to rethink this whole movies thing. I had to convince my mom and dad to let me go which in retrospect wouldn't be too hard but I was starting to freak out.

Was this a date or was this just two friends hanging out? What do I wear?

I heard the front door open and realized my parents were home. Great, this is going to be fun.

"Hey, mom! Hey, dad! How was your day? Mine was good."

They shared a suspicious look and my mom chuckled and put her bag on her shoulder.

"You can handle this one. Whatever this is."

She kissed my dad and tapped my shoulder before heading to the living room.

"So what do you want child of mine?"

"Ok so me and a friend want to go see a movie and I know we had plans to do something I admit I don't remember and-"

"Cameron. You are rambling. Breathe honey."

I took a deep breath.

"So can I go?"

"Sure why not."

HELL YEAH!

"Who's the friend?"

Fuck.

"What?"

"Who is the friend? If it was Jay you would have said Jay but you didn't so, who's the friend?"

I should've known his lawyer dad instincts would kick in. This is why I don't rebel as John put it.

"My friend John."

"And..."

"Myself?"

He walked to the living room and sat in his chair. He gave me the "Don't be a smart-ass" look.

"So can I?"

"Mm."

"Dad! Its just a movie and we're friends. Mom, please let me go."

She raised her hands in defeat symboling she didn't want to be brought into it.

"Well uh, I'm gonna take this as a no and just go upstairs."

I headed upstairs pissed at my parents for not letting me go.

Johnathan: is 6:45 good?

I was just about to text him back and then immediately throw my phone away when my dad said something I didn't think he'd say.

"What time do you think you'll be home."

"Wait, what?"

"I don't like this at all because I've asked my 'friend' to the movies and now that friend and I are married with three kids. But even though I hate this idea you can go."

"Thank you! But I don't think you have to worry about marriage anytime soon." I chuckled.

"That's not the part I'm worried about."
