More Than Friends

Chapter 29 - Welcome Back

Hello kids! Wow this update is LOOONG overdue. School has taken ALL of my free time and i just havent gotten around to writing that much. However i am trying to manage my time better so i have time for my writing which i have missed SO much. Enough of my talking its been months since i last updated this story so here you go! Enjoy :)

Going back to school seemed weird for me more than it was for Johnathan. It was like he never left. We both heard the whispers but they bothered me more. People who had never spoken to him before smiled and stopped to ask how he was doing. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

I did catch him holding his side a few times but since he didn't say anything I tried not to let it bother me. We have no classes together so it has been hard for me not to check in every 2 minutes but I held it together.

Lunch finally rolled around and the fantastic four plus one (Emily) was together again. I love my friends because they're like my second family. Sure, were all coupled up but we don't really act couple-y if that makes sense. There the occasional PDA but we make weird smooch noises to get the other couple to stop or wildly exclaim to just be dramatic.

I don't mind expanding my friend group at all it just annoys me that I have to expand to...her.

"Hello, kids!" Isaiah exclaimed. "Guess who got a C on their Calculus test?"

We all congratulated him considering he was the only one at the table actually taking calculus as a Junior. Getting a C with Mr. Shert as the teacher is a minor miracle.

"Oh, yeah you're new," John began once he realized why Emily was so confused. The only person at this table who genuinely considers C's a "good grade" is John. We love him but he's not the brightest bulb in the pack.

"Shert is an asshole. Getting a C in his class is like having- what's higher than an A?"

She giggled her annoyingly perfect giggle. "Note to self: Don't take Calculus with Shert. Got it."

"I know you're probably tired of hearing this but how are you?" Jay asked.

"Uh since the last time you asked me about 24 hours ago? Fine. I had no clue people cared this much about me, to be honest. I've had people give me food, sympathy hugs which is dumb of them because most of the school knows I have banged up ribs, and," he leaned into the center of the table. "Homework answers. Shh!"

Of course, Emily found this her opportunity to touch Johnathan's arm and gasp.

"No way! What if someone reports you?" They shared a laugh and we all joined in but it took everything in me not to roll my eyes. You could cut the tension at the table with a knife.

Everyone knew how I fell about Emily, except Emily and today is the day she finds out.

"Hey um Emily, can we talk? Outside."

"Of course!" She linked arms with me and joined me outside the double doors that lead to the cafeteria. "Whats up?"

"You. You have been very flirty, and touchy, with John and I'm gonna need it to stop."

"Oh, Cam-"

"Don't. Just stop. I don't care that he has girl friends because I trust him it's you I don't trust." She looked shocked. It was like it was the first anyone had ever called her out on her bullshit.

"I'm sorry I made you feel that way but I have a boyfriend. His name's Ethan."

Oh. Well, dont I look stupid. But wait it's been what 2 weeks since she got here? I call bullshit.

"Oh does he go here? I might know him."

"No, I met him at a party when I first moved to town. He's a friend of my neighbor."

Sure he was.

"Well, I'm sorry I snapped at you."

"I will be more cautious about how I act with Johnny. I would never try and break you to up. You guys are like, couple goals, how could I?"

She squeezed my arm and we headed back to our friends.

"Everything ok babe?"

"Yea absolutely."

You know how people say when you face your problems this huge weight is lifted off your shoulders? Yea well that didn't happen to me.
