Chapter 23 ~ Together Forever?

Lucy stared into Wyatt's eyes in shock. She gasped in surprise. Perhaps it was too early to ask her..? Wyatt thought. "Wyatt.." Lucy began, her eyes shining. "Yes.. I will marry you!" She finished, her eyes filling with happy tears. Wyatt slid the engagement ring on Lucy's ring finger. She fell into Wyatt's arms, crying happily. "I love you.. And this is the engagement I would prefer.." She whispered, remembering Noah and her strange timeline. She buried her head into Wyatt's shoulder. "I love you too." He replied. Luke walked over to them, licking both of them as if to congratulate them. The elderly dog howled. Lucy and Wyatt chuckled at Luke. The three of them stared up at the starlit sky, happiness flooding in their veins. In their minds, they were all going through their most precious memories. And, before they knew it, Lucy and Wyatt were asleep, Luke curled into a ball in front of them.

I am so glad they finally went for it.. Even though Lucy didn't get me back, and (probably) never will, I am still happy that she decided to follow her Destiny. But trust me, there is much more to come.. Much more..

Early in the morning the next day, just as the sun rose at dawn, Lucy, Wyatt, and Luke began to stir. Wyatt opened his eyes to the sun shining in his face. He sat up, observing his surroundings. He loved this hill. It was pretty much like the same hill that he had proposed to Jessica on in West Texas - except this one was in California. Wyatt looked down at Lucy's sleeping body. He smiled at her. I will always love you, Lucy Preston.. He thought. Within a few heartbeats after having this thought, Lucy's eyes fluttered open. "Good morning.." She said, still somewhat sleepy. "How'd you sleep?" Wyatt asked her. Lucy blushed. "Quite good, surprisingly.. We are on a hill, on grass and under a tree, after all." She replied. Lucy noticed that her stomach ache had gone.. Huh.. Weird.. She thought. Wyatt grinned at her. "Glad to hear that; I slept well too.. It was quite a night!" He replied. "This place is so majestic at night.. And in the day, it's just as beautiful.." Lucy said. By this point in the morning, people were already out and about. The town that could be seen in the darkness of the night before with its glowing lights was now busy and buzzing with people. Wyatt nodded in agreement. "Yeah.. It's a beautiful place.." He whispered. The two of them stood on the hill together in silence for a few more heartbeats. Lucy hugged Wyatt, burying her face in his chest. "I love you, Wyatt.. And I want to stay together.. Forever.." Lucy told Wyatt in a soft voice. "I love you too, Luce.. And I promise, I am never letting go.". He replied. And they stood on the hill together, looking down at everything below.
