Chapter 31 ~ Safe

Days went by after Lucy got shot. Then weeks. Each day and each week in the hospital, she gained more strength. She often exercised with Jiya; and Jiya had her own issues, because she could see in the past. The reason this happened to her was because of how she entered the Lifeboat as a fourth person - which was a huge-ass mistake. Jiya, Rufus, Wyatt, and even sometimes Luke typically spent most of their time together in the hospital, making sure that Lucy recovered properly. Wyatt never left her side, as a good fiancé would, Rufus was a great friend who entertained her, and Jiya was loyal and protective. Also there, was Luke, who always gave everyone company. Mason and Agent Christopher had stopped in a few times to see Lucy, but they were normally busy with keeping track of Flynn and Emma, because of the strange lack of activity with the Mothership. And yes, Amy was there too. She never left her sister's side, even when she traveled through time. Following Lucy's recovery, she had surgery to fully stitch up the wound.Three days after the surgery, Wyatt took Lucy outside on a wheelchair. It was a beautiful spring day. Other people, such as the elderly who were from the local senior living community and new mothers with their newborns all decided to go for a walk too. Hello, little one.. Aww, you're so cute! Lucy thought as she passed every nearby kid. She smiled warmly at them and their mothers; the new mothers swelled with pride at their precious children. Then Lucy saw two brothers who looked about eight or nine playing football together with a few older boys. One of the boys fell, and his brother raced over to help him. Lucy sighed. I wish Amy were here.. To see all of this.. To talk to me.. She thought sadly. The boys reminded Lucy of her and Amy. "What's wrong, Luce?" Wyatt asked her. Lucy looked behind her, to see Wyatt, his eyes full of concern. He sat down on a nearby bench, Lucy and her wheelchair at his side. "You see the two eight year olds playing football over there?" Lucy asked, pointing to the boys. Wyatt nodded. "Yeah. What about them?" He asked. "They remind me of my life with Amy. That's why I'm upset.." She told Wyatt. "Oh.. Well, I'm here for you, and always will be.." He reassured her. Lucy sighed. "I know that.. It's just.. Different, that's all." She replied. "I understand." Wyatt said quietly. "I miss her so much.. Sometimes I wonder if she can hear me, can feel me.. Is she still here?" Yes. Amy whispered. Wyatt shrugged. "I'm not sure.." He told her. Lucy just shook her head and chuckled. "I'm probably just losing my mind.." She said quietly. No, not really. Amy said, wishing she could be heard. "I'm just so glad that I have someone like you, Wyatt. Someone who actually cares.. And same goes for Rufus and Jiya." Lucy said, looking over to Wyatt. "I'm glad I have you too.." He whispered back, leaning closer to her. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her into a kiss. This kiss was something that they would never forget. They kissed for a while longer, until they heard giggling. Wyatt broke off from the kiss, to see the same two kids that they saw at Albero Park. And yes, the kids were laughing their asses off. Lucy and Wyatt exchanged glances, and glared at the kids; but they couldn't help but laugh too! Then their mother came over. "Now you two, go see your grandmother this instant!" She scolded them. They rolled their eyes and continued laughing as they ran towards their grandmother. "My goodness gracious, I am so sorry.." Their mother began, approaching Lucy and Wyatt. "It's okay. They were kind of cute.." Lucy said. "Wait. Are you the couple from the park that had the dog?" The woman asked. Lucy nodded. "Yes. And those are the kids who laughed at us." She told the mother. "Sometimes I feel like I scold those two from dawn to dusk! I apologize for their.. Immature behavior." The woman said. Wyatt shrugged. Lucy nodded, understanding the mother. "Anyways, I am so rude! I forgot to introduce myself.. My name is Anne, my daughter is Emily, and my son is Jack." The woman, Anne said. "My name is Lucy, and this is my fiancé, Wyatt." Lucy replied. "Ahh, yes. Young love.. I remember those days.." Anne replied. "What brings you here, Lucy and Wyatt?" She asked them. They quickly explained how Lucy got shot during an "FBI misson" in another country. Which was a lie, obviously. "Oh! Well, fell better, young one. And I'm here visiting my mother, Mary, who has Alzheimer's. But she's doing quite well! I have to go, perhaps we'll meet again?" Anne replied. Lucy shrugged. "Goodbye Anne!" She said, waving to Anne as she walked off into the distance. "She was nice." Lucy said, beaming. "I agree. And she even apologized about her kids this time.." Wyatt said, laughing. Lucy laughed too. Wyatt rose to his feet. "You ready to go back inside?" He asked Lucy. She nodded. "Yes." She replied. Wyatt got behind Lucy and steered her wheelchair back towards the hospital.

Within a couple of minutes, Lucy and Wyatt were back in Lucy's hospital room. Wyatt and Daniya (the Russian nurse, for those who forgot) helped Lucy back into her bed. Since she was gaining strength every day, she could almost walk by herself, but still needed assistance. "Thank you." Lucy told them. "No problem." Daniya replied. Wyatt grinned at her. "Okay, I'm going go to check on my other patients.. See you later, you two." Daniya said, exiting the room, leaving Lucy and Wyatt alone together. Wyatt pulled a blanket over Lucy, and placed a kiss on her forehead. "I love you, Wyatt.." Lucy whispered before falling asleep. "Love you too Luce.." He replied quietly. And before he knew it, Lucy had fallen asleep. Wyatt smiled down at her. He was so glad that she was safe and sound. For now.
