19th of May 1779
I smiled at Charles Lee. "Hey, I actually have a tiny problem, I can't seem to find my tent," I explained. "Which number?" He asked seeming to be more friendly.
"#38." I sighed. "So you're new or what." He asked and raised an eyebrow. "Yes, my 'friend' signed me in," I said, twitching my eye. "This way." He said and walked off. I followed him, he stopped at the third row, tent 8...Could have figured that one out.
"Here it is. By the way, I don't like the people in this tent so good luck and I'll see you around." He said and walked away. I turned to the tent and took a breather. Then I opened the tent carefully.
Almost instantly 3 heads turned to me. They were sitting down and probably talking about something.
I coughed and went on saying something, anything at this point.
"Eum...Yeah, I am Robin Scalewinds, I am your new tent-mate." I said not making this awkward. One person got up and shook my hand.
"Yo, the name is John Laurens." He said. He had freckles and had curly hair and tied this down with a low ponytail. He was kind of wounded, a few cuts and some bruises."And this is Alexander Hamilton and his son Philip Hamilton." He said and pointed to the gentleman behind him. The oldest probably 40 looked up and smiled a second. He had long hair also tied down in a ponytail but he didn't seem bruised at all. His son...Looked like two drops of water like John. He'd only have his hair loose. John sat down and motioned to me to sit down as well. So I did.
"So, where are you from?" Alexander asked. "Britain," I said. "Oh really?" His son responded. "Did you really want to be part of the Americans that badly?" John asked with a grin. "Well, yes," I answered. "It was no better than life in the Caribbean," I said and looked at Alexander.
Silence.
"How would you know that I grew in the Caribbean?" Alexander asked. "Do you know a mofo named Lafayette?" I asked. "One of my best friends," Alexander Responded. "He told me your and John's history for months on end." I sighed in agony.
Philip chuckled while his father and John felt their heartbeat drop.
"Okay, so we don't need to tell you anything about us, then tell us a bit about yourself," Alexander said a bit uncomfortably.
"Well, as I said; I am Robin Scalewinds. I just became 16. "My parents both passed away, my mom died after giving birth to me. My dad took care of me but was killed in the war. I'm an orphan in other words." I explained observing Alexander's expressions.
"That's all of it. I'm still young, I didn't get to do much in my life." I looked up,
Alexander was looking down holding both of his hands in a cup form. Philip put a hand on his shoulder. Alexander seemed to have many flashbacks to his own life, comparing his to mine.John tried to resolve this issue by getting me away from the scene of the crime.
"Well, Robin let's go for a stroll," John said and grabbed me by my arm which made me jump. "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF ME!" I shouted.
He looked confused but then rolled his eyes. "Oh, so you're the type that doesn't like to be touched, got it." He said and walked outside and waited for me outside the tent. I got out and we went on a little stroll.
"So...How is Britain?" He asked.
"In Britain, people don't even care that there is a revolution happening.
They keep up on their normal duties and jobs. Unlike here I guess... "I said.
"Yeah, we have made a huge deal of this revolution." He responded. "I'm glad that you guys are trying to break free and be your own country." I smiled. "Guess I am glad about that too." He answered. We walked a little bit around and then heard: "EVERYONE GET ON YOUR POSITION! GEORGE WASHINGTON IS MAKING AN ANNOUNCEMENT!"
John ran and almost wanted to grab my arm but shook it off and motioned to follow him. We were all in the center of the camp and George Washington was standing in front.
"We are outgunned, outmanned, outnumbered and out planned!" He yelled
"We need to take action men! We are attacking the British camp tomorrow." He pointed to a big map and started to explain his plan. I looked at the map and intensely stared at it but snapped out of my thoughts when I heard this:
"We attack from the east, there will be fewer soldiers, we move from the north." I put my hand before my mouth trying my best not to laugh. John saw this and motioned me to stop. Then I heard: "We will split into two groups, one will go north and the second will go South." He continued but I had stopped paying attention and began to laugh. Some heads turned to me, including the general. "What's so funny Scalewinds?" He asked sternly.
Now all the head's turned to me. John nervously, not wanting to be my pal anymore,
"That plan of yours sir, that is a suicide mission," I said with a chuckle. "How come?" He said and raised an eyebrow.
"2 things: First of all, attacking from the east? Where did you find that idea from?" I asked. "We are in the West, so there will be more soldiers on that side." He said. "Well, you might be right about that. But how are we gonna pass them from the north, if there is the sea on that side? There are going to be more men on that side than the West." I said, he frowned deep in thought."Then second of all, again, not smart to go to the north, west or east. We need to move in one small group of 20, 5 lookouts and a back up of 30. First, we attack the south, then the East then the West then the North." I explained.
"Why that exact order?" He asked.
"Glad you asked," I said and walked to the map. John tried to grab me but I shook him off.
I pointed to the camp where we were.
"If we start here and go to the South of camp redcoat, we will have a 100% survival rate. If we knock out all of the men there, other men will begin to notice and go there. While they are there, we can go to the East where are now fewer soldiers. While the rest of the soldiers go to the East they will have our plan in vision. The 'plan' that we're going counterclockwise. But we're not. They'll go North, so we will go West. While they will go to the north waiting for us, we will finish the West off and then go North. The 5 lookouts will wait for a signal if something goes wrong and will warn the 30 others to go for a back up at the same route I just explained. It's a bit more complicated than your plan but it is so much safer."I looked at the general. He looked at the map where I drew the plan. "Ingenious..."He awed.
"Scalewinds, we will use your plan." He said to me and put his hand on my shoulder. Then he turned his attention to the other 100 and said: "There will be soon a paper with all the people who are going on this mission. You are all dismissed!" He said and walked into his tent.
I exhaled and looked up to see a ton of soldiers around me. "...Can I help you out?" I asked. "We need to get this guy a drink!" Someone shouted.
"I don't dr-"
"Let's go!" I heard and the crowd walked to a tent and pushed me in.
