Chapter 12

My blood was boiling still when I thought of some of the things said yesterday. I had told Hamilton to meet me at my home today. If Thomas thought that I wouldn't say a word to him he was wrong. This is my closest friend, I guess. He would never steal government money. 

Hopefully. 

What am I thinking? Alexander is smarter than that. It's probably just a misunderstanding. It's no big deal at all. He'll just explain it to me when he gets here. That should be soon as long as he didn't forget. 

"Y/N!" Alex calls breaking me from my thoughts. I turn around to see him and I smile.

"Hey Alexander." I said as we both took a seat,"Listen I have to ask you well kind of tell you something that I heard."

"Is it serious?" he asked with his smile now gone.

"In a way yes. If it's true. I don't think it is but I want you to be aware of what was being said because you deserve to know." 

"I promise I won't be mad at you Y/N." Hamilton assured me. 

"Okay." I nodded my head and took a deep breath before speaking,"I heard that some people think that you have been using the government's funds. They seemed to have found some records that show some money-"

"Who said this?" he interrupted me.

"It wasn't anyone in-"

"Y/N. Don't lie to me. Who was it? Who would come up with something this absurd? Tell me." Hamilton said staring at me with anger in his eyes. I knew he wouldn't be happy about this,"I didn't want to jump to conclusions on this and be a good friend but it seems like you're avoiding this question. That makes me think that it is someone you already know I'm going to say."

"Alex-"

"Was it him?" he asked.

I was silent for a moment trying to prepare myself for his response to what I was about to say,"Yes it was. Along with James Madison and Aaron Burr."

"When did you hear this? Wait. Were you there to discuss this?!"

"Alex you know I would never say such things about you. Thomas invited me-"

"He invited you?! He invited you to his home to discuss, no gossip about me. First of all how stupid is he actually! How could you go there! Y/N I thought-"

"Shut up!" I yelled at him,"The note that I received from him inviting me said nothing about you. If I hadn't have gone you wouldn't even know that this was said about you." 

"Where's the invitation?" Hamilton asked me. I silently stood up going to my room to bring it back out to him. I handed him it and he read it out loud to himself.

"Come to my place tomorrow around lunch, I have something interesting to tell you, As well as a favor, T. Jefferson." he read,"What favor?! Does he honestly think you would do a favor for him?! What was the favor?"

"You know Alexander I don't know."

"What do you mean-"

"I left." I said making him quiet,"Right after they said that about you I left. Even after Thomas came after me. Are you happy now!?" 

Alexander sat there stunned so I spoke up again,"Look I'm just worried that this will get released to the public whether or not if it's true or false."

"Do you think it's true?" 

"Alex I don't believe it. I know you. I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding. You can tell me what it really is whenever you're ready." I told him and he smiled a bit.

He then smirked at me,"So based off of this whole entire argument it seems like you take my side more than Jefferson's."

"Hey!" I said,"I've know you way longer than him. I'm not letting you go no matter what. You're basically my big brother anyways."

"Basically!? Y/N I am your big brother. Let's just face that fact right now." 

We both laughed together and talked a little bit more. What Alex said was true. I do support his side more than Thomas'. Although that's the situation right now I can't help but think that it may change over time. I can't imagine not having Hamilton with me. Then again already I can't let go of Jefferson even though we aren't on the best of terms right now. 

I sent Alexander off with a kiss on the cheek and a wave goodbye. For a moment I thought things were going to go smoothly after this argument we had. 

Wait.

'Y/N this is Hamilton we are talking about. This definitely won't go smoothly.'  I thought to myself.

This is going to be a long week- or month- or lifetime. However long Hamilton takes to start things he shouldn't. Oh boy.
