Rosa lifted her hand, palm facing the sky, watching one snowflake land on her skin and disappear in a second. With the light, almost unnoticeable, snowfall, came a chill. "Good thing I brought a jacket." She reached into her bag to pull it out - black in color, it had fake fur on the inside. Slipping the jacket on, she watched Hugh search for strong pokémon in the dark green tall grass. Rosa brushed her locks out from being caught inside her jacket before looking over at Rina, who gestured to the boy twenty feet from them. She sucked in the cool air then approached her friend. "Hugh?" Her voice cracked somewhere in the middle and kind of surprised him. He didn't turn to face her but he made a slight hum to show he was listening. "Erm..." The brunette carelessly entered the grass. "About what you told me back at the forest... I wanted to say that you're right. I'm an awful friend for basically distancing myself from you." Rosa looked away with a growing blush. The touch of the snow against her cheeks did little to cool her down. "Are you still mad at me?"
Hugh had actually stopped searching for wild pokémon as soon as she approached him, but it had looked like he still was. He finally faced her, brows knitted together. "I have a right to be."
"Un- Understandable..."
"Maybe I'll forgive you, if you tell me why." He crossed his arms and waited expectantly. He also attempted to meet her eyes, but the girl refused to look up at him.
Rosa swallowed the saliva built up in her throat, turning to Rina for guidance, the pokémon watching the two from afar. Rina gave a thumbs up. 'Do the thing!' She whispered, even though Hugh wouldn't be able to understand her anyway.
Her trainer frantically shook her head. "I said I'm NOT doing that!!"
Hugh raised a brow at them, tapping his foot impatiently. "Tick tock, donut-head."
"Hey!" Rosa whipped around to face him again, actually facing him. The two engaged in a stare-down until the girl couldn't hold back the heat in her face and quickly brought her cool hands up to cover it. "You are just so..." She whined, but her friend waited for her to answer him - stubborn as usual. "Alright... the truth is... HUMAN GROWTH!" She looked up to see his confused expression, and rephrased it. "No, uh, I mean..." Rosa sighed, resisting the urge to slap herself. She took a moment to calm herself before reluctantly meeting his gaze. "Girls go through changes, you know? So, having a friend, who's a boy, can make some girls feel awkward..." Her hands waved around as she explained in the best way she could. Technically, it wasn't a lie. "This was after my mom had "the talk" with me!"
She didn't think it was possible for someone's eyes to get so wide. Hugh cleared his throat. "O- Oh..." How was he supposed to respond? It probably would have been better if he hadn't known this.
"But I guess I could have... gone about it another way." Rosa frowned. "I'm sorry."
"Yeah, and I expected an awful reason - that one wasn't so bad."
"What's your definition of an awful reason?" She tilted her head curiously.
Hugh shrugged. "You not liking me anymore." He flinched as Rosa gasped loudly.
"How could you ever think that?! I love you!" This caused them to pause. Rosa froze in her place at how eagerly those three words slipped out of her mouth. "I- I mean, in a friend way! Haha!" She forced herself to laugh, nearly falling over.
"You..." Hugh blinked before cracking a smirk. "You're such a strange girl." He watched in amusement as the brunette puffed out her cheeks. "Anyway, I'm going back to searching for pokémon."
