"She did like to help people."

"I would have been so exhausted trying to do everything all at once if it weren't for her!" The baker lightly sighed as she delivered a tray of food to the most recent customers to enter the house.

Rosa could have left any time, but when Chris brought up how the previous champion had assisted her with handing out food to her costumers way back then, the brunette immediately sat down to question her about it. They both wore smiles as Hilda became the topic of their conversation.

Two years ago, Chris held her small restaurant under the Village Bridge. Many people stopped by until there were nearly crowds of customers, and neither Chris nor her pokémon could keep up with them. Hilda showed up and offered to help, which then led to her coming back almost every day, even when there weren't as many people. "I would pay her for her time until she started to decline the money!" The baker chuckled as she approached Rosa.

Rosa's cheeks started to ache from smiling for so long, and she was sure there were lines at the corners of her mouth by now, but she couldn't help it. Manami, for once, lay bored on the wooden floor, eyes darting from her trainer to the baker. She ran out of playmates a while ago; the only ones left were two Pichu, too young to play with, and a stoic Mightyena, who was not a suitable friend. "Strange – Hilda never turned down money." Rosa snickered at the thought.

"Journeys can change people." Chris looked over at the clock next to the door. "Speaking of journey, I hope I'm not keeping you from yours with all my talk."

The brunette waved her hands. "Not at all! It's just... hearing anything about Hilda is much more important than my journey." She glanced toward the clock then down at Manami, finally noticing her boredom. "But my pokémon seems to want me to hurry it up..."

Chris folded her arms, brows knitting together. "You mentioned that she's your cousin... I heard that she disappeared, and you don't know anything else about it?" The older woman's heart had ached when she overheard the news at the time, fearing for the worst, as it was out of the blue.

Rosa stood up from her seat, grabbing her bag to throw it over herself. Her smile faltered and eventually faded. "Absolutely nothing, not even my mom knew much of it. You would think her own sister would tell her, ya know?" Chris slowly nodded at that.

Aunt Carol used to call them a couple times a year, visiting twice, unless something came up, but this stopped two years ago. The reason was obvious, though it was possible there could be another reason. "I'm worried for my aunt. She's probably not feeling well." Rosa could feel her heart quickening at the thought of something bad happening to Carol. "I plan on visiting her in Nuvema Town. Hopefully she's there, so I can cheer her up!"

Chris offered a reassuring smile. "Then you best hurry on out of here if you wanna do that! I really enjoyed your company here today, Rosa. Best wishes on your journey!"

The 15-year-old returned the smile, feeling joyful once again, before heading toward the door. Manami perked up and jumped to her paws to follow her trainer. "Thank you, Chris, especially for mentioning Hilda. I promise to come visit! Bye!" She raised a hand in the air on the way out before continuing along the Village Bridge. Admittedly, she had forgotten she was still here. "Quite an eventful afternoon, eh?"

'You both talked too long! I nearly died of boredom!' Manami puffed out her cheeks, turning her head away.

"Don't be like that..." Rosa did her best to hold in a laugh. Her pokémon must be truly upset though, since, after moving through the terminal to the west of the village, she still hadn't spoken. "Are you seriously that upset??" She frowned down at her.
