The slippery rocks made it difficult to maneuver through the entrance of the chasm. On top of that, drops of freezing cold water leaked from the ceiling.
"Watch out for that spot." Nate warned his companion with a frown, being ahead of her and having nearly slipped. She gave a nod and moved around it. It wasn't long until their feet touched the slightly smooth ground, where they could perfectly walk now.
The duo looked around the cave, breathing out clouds of air. Rosa knew they'd both catch a cold after this endeavor. She suddenly found herself being pulled along rather hurriedly. "Na–?" He immediately shushed her and hid themselves behind a large rock formation, sticking his head around it. She lowered her voice and questioned him, but he didn't need to respond, as two voices sounded soon after.
"How long does 'wait until everyone else arrives' mean, anyway?"
"The area past here is important! The people heading to route 21 are definitely important, but we have an important role too!"
There were two Plasma minions blocking the narrow, and only, path to get through. It seemed that the teens would need to find a new way through. "Looks like the plan's changed." Nate knitted his brows together, looking over at her. "Now what?"
"Well, you heard those dunderheads. Some important people are going to route 21, so we'll head on over there and mess their day up." Exchanging a nod, they made their back through the entrance of the cave, which was harder to climb up than it was to go down.
Rosa and Nate returned to Humilau City, carried by Komori and Braviary. "After my battle with Marlon, I met up with Hugh. Sorry for ditching you guys, by the way." She grinned over at her friend despite the shiver coming down her body. It sucked flying when it was so cold outside. "Anyway, we split up and he went off in this direction. Looks like he's got a head start over us."
Nate looked down as they passed over the city, waving his legs around. It was Rosa's idea to be carried like this, held by the arms, rather than climb atop their aerial pokémon – claiming they had a better view this way. His arms were losing feeling, though. He then noticed a couple of small islands just south of Humilau, which led to yet another cave. "Let's land down there!" He pointed, her eyes following.
Braviary and Komori swooped down before gently placing their trainers on the soft, sandy floor just outside the cave. Rosa pulled out her map once more. "This is the Seaside Cave." She informed Nate, who stepped inside first. "Didn't Colress mention this place?" She furrowed her brows.
Unsurprisingly, there were other trainers around. At least the duo could get some more training in before confronting the "important people" those two grunt mentioned.
They eventually found a man dressed in a karate gi standing around near a different opening of the cave, a couple of Roggenrola at his side. Upon noticing their approach, he raised a hand. "Stop! If you wish to pass, you must show me your strength. Can you defeat our rock-hard will?"
Rosa shrugged, deciding to take this one. "Yeah."
"Just to let you know, my Roggenrola and I are the sturdiest things that were ever sturdy!" At that, Rosa had to stare at a nearby wall for the next couple seconds.
The battle began. Nate stood off to the side with Komori and his Braviary, already knowing the outcome.
Rina was stretched her arms and legs, eyeing all of the rock-type pokémon she'd have to fight. 'This is gonna be fun!' With a thumbs up sent to her trainer, Rosa ordered the first move. Rina charged at the Roggenrola and attempted to attack with a force palm, but at its own trainer's command, it exploded just before Rina could make contact. The blast sent her flying against a wall, and then she roughly met the ground.
