This is the final chapter, technically. Sorry if it's a little short, I just couldn't think of a way to end things, BUT there's a bonus chapter after this~!

She had lost.
It finally dawned on her as she was being checked by Nurse Joy. Those three words were buzzing around inside her head.
At first, Rosa didn't understand why it bothered her that much. She clearly remembered thinking about how she cared little about whether she became champion or not.
Then she realized that losing to Iris meant that she hadn't trained enough. It meant that she let her pokémon down. It meant that she disappointed everyone who had high hopes for her.
Hell, even the Elite Four had come down to see her and Iris, to congratulate her on her win, only to find out that she had actually lost.
The more she dwelled on this, the more her heart felt like it was tightening. Rosa just wanted to run away and change her identity.
"Well, you haven't broken anything," Nurse Joy brought her back to reality. "You'll be sore for a few days. I can get you some pain medicine, if you'd like."
Rosa managed a smile, playing with her visor. "That would be awesome. Thank you." She then slid off the gurney to stand up. As much as she wanted to enjoy a satisfying stretch, she knew it would hurt a lot.
She accepted the small pill bottle from Nurse Joy and thanked her again. The nurse told her that Jano and the others were all healed up and waiting on her outside the door, which brightened up Rosa's mood a little bit. Once she had exited the room, Rina and Shisa practically jumped on her before they quickly had to let go because of their trainer's cry of pain. 'Ahh! I forgot!' Rina bowed repeatedly while Shisa took a seat in the corner, feeling awful.
Jano, of course, felt like absolute crap. He offered Rosa a guilty look. 'You told me not to push myself, but I did it anyway and look what happened to you, my lady... I can never forgive myself...'
Rosa frowned and gave him a hug. "It's okay. I'm not upset about that."
"...I guess there's no afterparty, huh?" Manami grinned hesitantly before she was silenced by the glaring of her fellow pokémon.
"Nope..." Rosa replied, trying not to show how crestfallen she really was – though her team could just feel it by the way she was acting. "I guess we should head home...?" The brunette exchanged an uncertain look with them.
She never really thought about the end of her journey, or if it even had to end. Right now, her head was full of questions and it was beginning to cause a headache. She wanted nothing more than to just lie down and sleep for hours.
"Rosa!" They jumped in fright when the door to the Pokémon Center was thrown open.
"Hugh..." And just like that, the floodgates were open.
The spiky-haired trainer was more than ready to catch her in his arms when Rosa came running, and he was much too worried to get flustered. "Iris told me you got hurt." He then frowned as he heard her sniffles. "Hey, what happened?!"
"I... I failed!" She tightened her hold on him. "I lost! I let everyone down! I'm... I'm never going to be Hilda!"
Hugh gently pulled her back so that he could see her face, but Rosa refused to look him in the eyes. "No one expects you to be like your cousin. That's just crazy talk!" He told her, angry at her for even thinking that way. Rosa's lip quivered as she was upset for upsetting him. "Look. Iris is a champion for a reason. Plenty of trainers have lost to her. Besides, there's always a next time."
