A Lovely Day For A Date!
(featuring, unwanted distractions...). : . : .
Two days after her loss against Iris, Rosa began to feel like herself again. As of now, she was giving all of her pokémon a much needed wash and it brought a smile to her face, especially when Rina snatched away the water hose to start chasing Shisa around. Understandably, the fire-type wasn't keen on getting wet, but he'd do anything for his trainer – who, for the longest time, he had regarded as a mother.
"Alright, alright! That's enough trauma for today," Rosa snatched back the hose as soon as Rina had run past, earning a pout. As she put everything away, Lucinda stepped outside and called her attention.
"Since when did you get two Xtransceivers? This one's gone off twice." The woman held up the watch-like device, this one being red.
Rosa stared at it for a few good seconds before her face lit up in recognition. "Curtis! I can't believe I forgot about him!" Her mom raised a brow while she ran over to take the Xtransceiver. "He's some boy I haven't met, but he called me from this, like, weeks ago and said he dropped it. We were gonna make a plan to meet up so I can hand it back to him, but I guess he got busy..." Rosa turned on the device and noticed the two missed calls, both an hour apart. She recognized the set of numbers, though. "Oh, he's the one that called!"
"Then you better call him back." Rosa nodded before stepping inside the house and plopping down on the couch. She couldn't help feeling bad that she hadn't called him periodically.
'Well, he didn't call me himself, so...' With a frown on her face, she fiddled around with the device and then put the call through. She waited for almost 10 seconds until someone picked up, but he didn't sound like Curtis.
"Yes, hello?" It was a man in a suit.
"Oh, hi! Um," Rosa felt awkward as she offered a smile. "Is Curtis there?"
The man seemed confused as he muttered "Curtis" to himself, then it seemed to dawn on him. "Ah, yes! But may I ask... who you are?"
"I'm... a friend," she answered.
The man looked unsure, but then a familiar voice drew his attention. "It's alright. I can take it from here." The focus switched to Curtis, who smiled in relief upon noticing her. "Rosa! Long time no see!"
"Same to you!" The brunette exhaled a short laugh. "Hey, I'm really sorry for not keeping in touch. Things got so crazy!"
The boy shook his head, letting her know it's alright. "I could say the same for myself. Busy, busy!"
Rosa was still curious about his line of work, but she decided to save that for later. "Are you too busy to meet up today? I'm back home now, so I'm free."
"Oh! What a coincidence," he said, grinning. "I'm not doing anything today. It's actually why I called you first. Would Nimbasa City's theme park work? That's where I'm staying, currently."
"Definitely!" Unfortunately, Curtis was pulled away by the man from a moment ago and their call had to be cut short. It was nice talking to him again. "Hm... Theme park... Couples-only Ferris wheel..." A light bulb went off above her head as she stood up.
Was Hugh available for their date?
The mere thought of it brought a big smile to her face, and just seeing him again would mean so much to her.
