Dick's POV
I yawned as I awoke, stretching my arms out over the side of the bed. Another long day at work. Today I was going to have to do a raid on the warehouse where we'd found a signal for the equipment. I did my usual morning routine around the manor before dragging my caffeine fuelled body into work. When I got into work it was the same heightened atmosphere as usual, the stressful and tedious static from alert minds waiting for the next 911 call. "Ah Mr Grayson arrives," a voice called out. "Hey better late than never chief," I replied, pulling a warm greeting smile. "Well get to work, will you need a partner for your case today?" He asked, knowing that I was doing a raid today. "I've already got one chief," I turned down his offer kindly. "Who's that then?" He asked intrigued. Just on cue Barry came running into the office as the Flash. He shook my hand and said, "I'll meet you there" before running off again. The small act had answered my social partner's curiosity and he laughed. "Do you need anyone in CSI to assist you?" He asked. I laughed again and replied "No sir, Barry Allen from Central City PD is helping me out, he works for their CSI unit." He nodded in understanding, ending our conversation as he let me get to work.
I grabbed my police gear and headed to a patrol car, I set the vehicle in motion and a few minutes later I had reached my destination. I got out and Barry speeded up to me. "The area's clear, seems like nobody's home" he said. I headed to the front entrance and kicked the door in, the metal clashing against the wall echoed throughout the empty warehouse. So much for being stealthy. I turned around to ask Barry to check ahead for me, but it seems he'd already read my mind and beat me to it as I saw the blur of yellow and red speed in front of me.
I cautiously walked forward into the grey building and surveyed the area, it had areas that were untouched by dust, while others were caked in a blanket of it. "We're still good, though I don't have super hearing so they could be hiding somewhere" Barry said. "Well if they're hiding, I'm pretty sure I'll find them" I replied. He nodded and we carried on through the building towards the storage area at the back. "Is it just me or does this place seem too small for a warehouse?" Barry asked. I'd beaten him to it this time as I walked to the back wall. I knocked on it lightly to reveal that it was hollow behind the fake wall. I pointed to it and asked Barry to wait for my signal before he ran in. He nodded and I climbed up the wall and into the vents. While I wasn't as small as I used to be, there were no doubts about my flexibility as I clambered through the square space with just as much ease as my previous self did.
When I reached the other side, I removed the vent hatch and held it close to prevent it falling from where I was in the ceiling. I pulled out a gadget from home and used it to scan the floor and area to check for life signs or traps that lurked below. It picked up multiple people, guns, dynamite and a source emitting fluctuating power which was definitely the tech we were searching for. I gave Barry the explanation via our communicators and signalled for him to be prepared as I hacked into the machine holding up the iron curtain. It dropped with a deafening clash and the villains in hiding emerged from their hiding places as they realised they were compromised.
As the fighting began I dropped the vent onto the head of one and dropped onto the shoulders of another. Barry smirked a little at my arrival from above. "Didn't want to leave all the work to me did you?" He asked. I smirked back at him as I ducked away from a punch, "I couldn't let you have all the fun could I?" I replied. We continued to knock out the thugs and when we narrowed down their gang to one measly thief we interrogated him for information. "Where's the Joker?" I asked. He didn't speak, but his refusal to use words had an obvious motive behind it. The crook was more scared of The Joker than the police, and we could see it clear as day in his body language as he trembled, as his eyes wobbled with fear.
"We're not gonna get anything out of him, I'll cuff him and you can get him to the station, I've got some detective work to do" I said. "No problem Officer" he joked, disappearing and reappearing again. "So what did you find?" Barry asked me as I glanced around searching for the item in question. "My scanner picked up some equipment which is probably the Star Labs tech. It has a dynamite trap on it... Hmmm" I said. "Hey I found it!" Barry exclaimed from behind me. "The dynamite trap!" I shouted in fear. Barry realised his mistake as soon as his ears heard my words and he quickly sped away, bomb in hand, before reappearing again without the dynamite. "That was close" I spoke, sighing with relief. "You're telling me, let's go get this tech secured" he said. I nodded and we headed out again, we went our separate ways momentarily before meeting again at Star Labs when my shift was over.
