Celeste POV

I wake up to the sound of music and soft sunlight hitting my face. Jazz is playing on an actual record player. The orange brown tint of the room makes me so much calmer. A lot of the emotions aren't as in my face anymore. I just lay there listening. Misty by Ella Fitzgerald starts playing; what a pretty song. I look at the window and the curtains are creating that same tint.

"Morning, you hungry?" I don't move but I look where the hallway and the living room meet. He's leaning on the doorway. I nod. He disappears and comes back with some waffles and orange juice.

"Eat up. Maybe then you will be ready to talk." he smiles. I grab the plate from him and he decides to pull up a spinning chair in front of me. I feel bad for not talking but it's kinda awkward. I take a bite of the food; it's so good.

"How is it? Its homemade." I look at him, shocked. I quickly take a sip of the orange juice so my voice isn't rough.

"It's great!" I try to say it with enthusiasm but my body is only allowing so much. It's like there was a curse put on me that renders me unable to speak and I'm trying to fight it. He looks at me and smiles.

"Your voice is really pretty." he doesn't sound like he's flirting but more like he's genuinely being nice.

"Thanks..."

"So tell me, how did you make your way all the way down here to lovely little Arizona?"

"Driving."

"Where is your car?" he looks puzzled.

"RV...bar...on the side..."

"Oh, well you're welcome to stay here as long as you are kind and responsible. If you don't mind me asking, why did you come here -by yourself, not knowing where you were?"

"Big...BIG fight...I just...drove." I say between bites. He looks at me in disbelief.

"Wait, how old are you?" he sits there expecting a big answer. I finish up the waffles.

"Turning 19 in a couple of days....you?"

"22...ok, good just checking. So, this fight it was big huh?"

I looked at him then continued to drink the rest of my juice. He shoots me a look at of concern, his face in his hands.

"Me and my fiancé broke up, because I got an abortion for our 3 kids...kinda."

He chokes on air. "T-that's HUGE...that explains a lot...you must be going through a lot. How does your family feel? Can't you just go and live with them instead of coming here?"

"They scolded me too, I just wanted to get away. I don't have many friends so I just wanted to maybe start brand new. Somewhere new..."

"Well, you have come to the right place...I have an idea. I'll invite some friends over and then you can get to know some people down here."

He smiles at his idea and so do I. I like the thought of meeting new people.

"Perfect."

"Wait, don't you need clothes? Maybe we should head over and get the RV. You can park it by my house for now if you want." I nod.

"Thank you for everything...seriously." he gets up and pats my head.

"Don't worry about it. Alright, I'll be in the front when you're ready." he leaves. I put the dishes away and I go into the front. He opens the door and the sun is high in the sky. The air is nice -different from Cali. I like it. We get into his car and we drive to the bar. I see my RV in the road. I hop out and get into it. He follow inside.
