A/N I just realized I don't have a trigger warning for this book, because I sort of assumed you all know the first book was triggering, but for future reference, this book can be triggering if you didn't know that already.
Castiel wakes up to the sound of Anna screaming "Give it back!"
He groans and sits up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. What's today, Wednesday? So it's the halfway point of his time with his family. Well, at least he won't have any rude awakenings like this once he leaves.
"Oh, this is gold!" Claire laughs.
"Dammit, give me back my phone!" Anna screams.
"Guys, stop yelling," Castiel instructs them, his voice quiet from lack of sleep but authoritative.
"Claire stole my phone!" Anna yells.
"Anna's sexting Cain!" Claire yells at the same time.
Castiel sighs. It's way too early for this. "Guys, people are still sleeping," he reminds them, rolling off the couch to search for them, finding them in the kitchen.
"But Claire stole my phone!" Anna whines.
"But Anna's sexting!" Claire adds at the same time.
Castiel walks over to them and snatched the phone from Claire's hands. Seeing Anna's reaction, he has very little doubt Claire is right, but he doesn't look for himself. Instead, he locks the phone and hands it back to her.
"Anna, no sending photos. They'll come back and bite you in the ass. Say whatever dirty shit you want, though. God knows we get that here all the time. Just, like, don't go through with any of it. And Claire, don't take people's stuff and don't invade their privacy."
"But —" they protest simultaneously.
"I mean it. Get ready for school."
"I am," they both reply, then send each other dirty looks as if talking at the same time is an insult.
Castiel glances at the clock, only to see that they should be leaving in two minutes. They actually got along fairly well for that hour that they were awake at the same time. Granted, most of that was probably spent doing hair and makeup, an they probably saw each other for, like, five minutes while they ate breakfast, when Claire stole her phone. One you get to know them, guessing their habits isn't that hard.
"Can I stay home today?" Claire asks.
"No way!" Anna replies immediately. "You can't just ditch school."
"Sorry, Mom. I didn't realize you made all the choices here," Claire snaps.
"Maybe I shouldn't leave on Monday..." Castiel ponders aloud. "You're gonna kill each other while I'm gone."
"Why wait 'till you leave?" Claire replies. "No, but really. Can I stay home?"
"Why?" Castiel asks. She doesn't seems sick. Why else would she want to stay home?
"Cuz I have a geometry quiz today and I'm kinda starting to sorta get how the angle thingies relate to the three letter theories and stuff so if I just wait a couple days I might not fail the test."
"Lamest excuse ever," Anna mutters.
Castiel sends her a silencing glare before turning back to Claire. "You realize if you stay home, we'll be doing math all day, right?"
Claire grins. "So is that a yes?"
"You can't seriously —" Anna begins, but Castiel cuts her off.
