Dean doesn't show up for a while, but that's no surprise. It had been the plan since the beginning that he would come after practice. Until then, Castiel gets some fun video of his fans just hanging out and being excessively homosexual. As Charlie suggested, they do all the cliché dances like the Cha Cha slide, and Lucifer gets plenty of footage of his fans laughing while they dance along. It's all a lot of fun for everyone.
When Dean finally does show up, Castiel knows this because people start screaming, which is his cue to head back to the front of the pack instead of hanging out throughout the entire group.
Dean is standing a few yards away from everyone, his phone in his hands, but when Castiel says his name, he looks up and puts the phone away.
"Hey, sorry I'm late," Dean says. "I didn't want to come."
Castiel rolls his eyes. "I hear nothing but lies. Hey, guess who else is here!"
"Who?"
"Lucifer, Claire, and Charlie!"
Dean seems mildly interested at first, but hearing the last name seems to really make him perk up. "Really? You should've told me they were coming and I would have tried to get here sooner."
"What, I wasn't enough motivation?" Castiel asks teasingly.
"Nope," Dean jokes. "Kidding. Where's the rest of the gang?"
"Lucifer's being a dork, Claire is laughing at him as if she looks any more normal with her rainbow hair, and Charlie is socializing with her people," Castiel summarizes.
"Claire has rainbow hair?" Dean repeats.
Castiel nods. "Uh huh. I haven't mentioned it, but I'm assuming it's just temporary dye."
"I hope not," Dean laughs. "I want her to have rainbow hair until she has to dye it again."
Castiel chuckles and shakes his head at him. "You're a horrible person."
"I know."
Lucifer and Claire make their way through the crowd to find them, Lucifer using his camera to record everything that's happening. All this footage obviously won't fit in a three minute music video, but Castiel would be surprised if he doesn't have a behind-the-scenes vlog with it.
"Speak of the devil," Dean says as he catches their eye, giving them a slight wave.
Lucifer runs over to them and jumps into the spot in front of them. Claire shakes her head in amusement and joins them.
"Hey, long time, no see," Dean greets them. "What's new?"
"Literally nothing," Claire replies.
Lucifer, on the other hand, is very enthusiastic when he says, "I get to make a music video!"
"Wait, you're making the video?" Dean repeats incredulously.
"That I am!" Lucifer replies. "It's gonna be the gayest piece of gay to ever gay!"
"I better see it before it's posted," Castiel adds.
"What, don't you trust me and my editing skills?" Lucifer asks, pretending he's offended.
"Not at all," Castiel replies, and though he plays it off as a joke, part of him is worried about what his weirdo of a brother will come up with. Then again, he's possibly the only one who could actually make something out of the random scraps of video that he's stuck with.
"That's fine, because you're gonna win Video of the Year at every awards thingy for it!" Lucifer says confidently, then adds, "Except not really but we can pretend. Ooh, but now that Deanosaur's here, I wanna get a video of you guys making out and being cute in front of everyone else with all their rainbow flags and stuff!"
"Okay?" Castiel says uncertainly. He really should have shown Lucifer the song before he let his brother run loose and get some videos, because that doesn't seem like it would go well with the upbeat nature of the song, but hey, Lucifer's magic enough that he'll make it work anyway.
"'Kay," Dean says with a shrug. "I can't complain about kissing Cas."
Lucifer does get his short video clip of the two kissing, while everyone else waves their rainbow flags around behind him. When that part of the video is over, Lucifer spends another fifteen minutes quickly trying to incorporate Dean into things, probably so he's involved in more than just that one brief part of the video.
After that, Castiel announces that he's going to meet as many people here as humanly possible, so while Castiel takes pictures and signs rainbow flags and album booklets, Lucifer and Claire attempt to turn this herd of people into some sort of organized line. Dean just stands back, leaning against one of the buildings and watching with an amused expression. Whenever Castiel glances over at him, Dean flashes him a brief smile, but their silent communication can't last long, because once one fan is gone, another one takes their place.
What Castiel had assumed would take an hour or two takes the rest of the night. It's well past midnight when he's finally seen every fan who showed up, excluding those who left because they weren't going to wait the eight hours or so that the last of the fans had to.
By the end, Castiel is exhausted, and he's thrilled when he finally gets to go back to Dean's house and sleep. He tries to keep the smile on his face until he's out of sight, just so no one draws the conclusion that he regrets meeting his fans. He kind of does, honestly, but it will be a day they all cherish forever, so at least he made someone happy.
When Castiel finally reaches Dean's house, he's glad to find that the door is unlocked, and he can just go inside on his own. He slides off is shoes immediately, hoping he'll be a little more quiet just wearing socks, so Dean can sleep. Unfortunately, Misha doesn't get the memo, because he trots over to him, his nails clinking loudly against the tile floor.
"Shush," Castiel whispers, crouching down to pet him and hopefully get him to shut up in the process. Misha calms down after a few seconds, much to Castiel's relief. "C'mon." He walks away as quietly as possibly, making his way to the living room instead of Dean's in an attempt not to wake his boyfriend up.
He doesn't bother changing, instead just lying down on the couch. Misha plops down on the floor next to him, earning a slight smile. There's no friend better than a dog.
