A/N Hehe, 69

Lucifer tells him he's going to leave for reasons unknown a few hours after they started chatting. Castiel doesn't protest, but once Lucifer's gone, he realizes just how alone he is. He still has Misha, of course, but that's it.

He slowly peels the towel off his arm, wincing as his cut comes in contact with the air. It's been so long since he's had to deal with this. He's not really sure what to do right now. Should he wash it, clean it up a little bit? But what if it starts bleeding again? Has it even stopped? He can't tell.

Finally, he decides to go take a shower, but the second the water touches his cut, he rules that idea out. Unable to delay the inevitable any longer, he does what he knows he has to do but really doesn't want to. He goes to the emergency room.

The author doesn't know anything about medical stuff, so let's say he just gets stitches and that's about it. I don't know. It's late and I'm watching Bee Movie and writing just isn't happening. Just go with it.

Castiel finally comes home to hear Misha whining, loud enough to be heard outside the house. The second he opens the door, Misha jumps on him. Castiel chuckles and pushes him off until he's inside the house, when he kneels down and pets his dog for a few minutes until he calms down. With a sigh, he returns to his bedroom and picks up his song notebook. He might as well try to finish this up. Hopefully he'll at least find one song soon.

Castiel is having a well earned but unwelcome nap when he hears someone yell, "Top of the morning to ya, laddies!"

Castiel sits up with a start to see Lucifer standing next to him with a grin. Castiel rubs the sleep from his eyes and asks tiredly, "What're you doing here?"

"I'm stealing your dog," he replies, ruffling Misha's fur. The dog looks up at him from where he sits next to him, seeming content.

"What?"

"Nah, kidding," Lucifer says. "I just came by to say hi, meet the new doge."

"How did you get here so fast?"

"How do you know I haven't been planning a surprise visit for months?" Lucifer counters.

"You know how."

"That I do. No, so I took a plane to Florida and then I was going to come straight here but that plane got delayed so I was stuck there forever and a half but I finally made it."

"You didn't have to do that," Castiel protests.

"But I wanted to," Lucifer replies. "And it's probably a good thing, too." He snatches Castiel's song notebook away. Castiel tries to grab it back, but Lucifer holds it behind him. "You're still working on that?"

"I need to choose songs by tomorrow," Castiel replies. "I don't have a choice."

"Why?"

"So the band can learn them and it sounds like an actual song," Castiel explains.

"Well, change of plans," Lucifer tells him, tossing the notebook behind himself carelessly. Castiel looks around him to make sure none of the pages are bending, and, thankfully, they aren't. "Concert planning's over. You don't need those songs 'til you're in Sioux Falls, anyway. Just leave that to me an' Gabe."

"What?"

"We'll — or I'll? — pick your songs with you when you come up to Sioux Falls, and you just take the next few weeks to chill with Misha and do nothing."

"But then the band —"

"You can do it acoustically," Lucifer interrupts. "That might not be a word. You can do it with your guitar, like how you actually wrote it to be. Simple but awesome, and less work on everybody."

"But..." Castiel trails off. There's really no downside to that, actually. Except... "Jim wouldn't let that fly."

"Then let's call him up and I'll make him," Lucifer replies.

"You call him."

"No, he'd just ignore me," Lucifer says. "Gimme your phone."

"What?"

"I'll call him, but on your phone so he picks up," Lucifer explains, holding his hand out.

Castiel hands him the phone after unlocking it for him and sits back while he waits to hear what Lucifer is going to say. Lucifer calls him and puts the phone on speaker, then puts a finger to his lips, telling his brother to let him do the talking.

Finally, Jim picks up. "Hey, Castiel. Finally finished?"

"Heya, Jim. Change of plans," Lucifer replies.

There's a pause, then, "Which one are you?"

"Lucifer."

Jim sighs. "Out of all the brothers, it just had to be you, didn't it? How'd you get Castiel's phone? Where is he?"

"Cassie's out of commission for the moment," Lucifer replies vaguely. "So, the Sioux Falls concert planning's on hold."

"No, the band needs it tomorrow," Jim tells him.

"The band gets what they get, and that's that. Everything else is acoustic. My choice, not Cassie's, so don't get mad at him for it. 'Kay, that's it. Bye!" He hangs up before Jim can say anything else and puts the phone down on the bedside table. "See? That wasn't so hard, was it?"

Castiel gives him a grateful smile. "Thanks, Luci."

"No problem. I'll take any chance I get to bother Jim."

"What is it with you two?" Castiel asks.

"The guy just gets on my nerves."

Apparently bored with the conversation, Misha jumps up on the bed with Castiel and rests his head in his owner's lap. Castiel strokes his fur absentmindedly, as he's gotten so used to doing.

"I bet you're glad I made you adopt a dog," Lucifer says with a grin.

"Yeah, yeah. Go ahead. Have your 'I told you so' moment."

"I think this is enough 'I told you so' right here," Lucifer replies, gesturing to Misha and Castiel. "You two are adorable, by the way. Totally Instagram-worthy."

"I'm actually keeping Misha out of the public eye," Castiel tells him.

"What? Why?"

"Okay, think about my fanbase," Castiel begins. When it becomes clear Lucifer has no idea what he's talking about, he continues, "There are a lot of little kids. Now look at Misha and tell me a little kid wouldn't freak out."

Lucifer nods slowly. "Ah, yeah, point taken. I guess that means more puppy for us, huh?"

"Guess so," Castiel agrees.

It's quiet for a few moments, until Lucifer decides to break the silence with, "I'm thinking about starting a YouTube channel."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah, why not?" Lucifer replies with a shrug. "I kinda miss making videos on your Facebook page."

"I say go for it," Castiel tells him. "I'll shout you out. I'm sure there are a lot of other people who miss your videos."

"Awesome. But I'm kinda worried people are just going to watch because it's your brother, not because they like my videos."

"That might be how it starts, but it won't last," Castiel assures him. "You'll be a star in your own right pretty soon."

"Maybe," Lucifer allows. "Probably not, but maybe. It'll be fun either way, though, so I'm gonna do it anyway."

A/N I wrote most of this at a sleepover because apparently other people actually sleep more than four hours?
