A/N IT'S EASY AS ABC! SO SIMPLE AS DO RE MI, ABC, 123 BABY YOU AND ME GURL!
... sorry.
No I'm not.
It doesn't take long for Dean to decide that there's no reason for him to hang around, so within ten minutes, he's gone off to the gym. Castiel should probably be going there sometime soon, too, but he's also lazy so no.
He does write some music. He writes a couple songs, actually. None of them have any messages in them, though. They're not even about him; they're about fictional characters. He likes writing those types of songs — it's fun to put himself in someone else's shoes like that — but he doesn't release a lot of them, because people never realize that they don't have anything to do with him, and they end up drawing conclusions about him that make no sense.
He does like these two, though, and he folds over the corner of those pages as a reminder to look to these when he's putting together his album. He does that a lot. So far, he counts 24 potential songs for his next album, which is more than enough. Maybe he'll just double check these and send in his favorite fifteen or so and call that the finished album, so all that's left is an album title, track order, choosing his first single off this album, and recording them.
But maybe he should choose more than 15 as an apology for taking forever. A 25 song album could be cool. His fans would love the extra tracks, and his critics would love to complain about them. It's a win/win for everyone but Castiel, who would have to write at least one more song, but it's worth it, right? At least his fans will have something extra. Or... He heads to Twitter to take a poll.
"Thoughts on a previous Sioux Falls original making it on the new album?" The options are, "Hell yes!", "I don't really care," "Please don't," and "Die in a hole."
It doesn't take long for people to start voting, and the answers seem to be somewhat evenly split. He decides to look through responses, but when he remembers that they're all full of, "Love you!" and "Dad!" he decides to take a few minutes to let people choose.
He only has one song in mind for the new album that people have heard before. It would be fairly long, maybe reaching 6 minutes, but he shouldn't get complaints that his song is too long. Just more to listen to, right?
He flips through all the earmarked pages, and after about twenty minutes, he's surprised to realize that he actually still likes all these songs. If the Twitter poll goes well, that will bring him up to the 25 songs he wants. So let's check Twitter.
"I don't really care," is dominating with 45% of votes, followed by "Hell yeah!" at 41%, "Please don't," at 11%, and 3% of the voters are just trolls. He decides to check the replies, but he's fairly certain he's going to do it.
"If this isn't the song he walked out on, I swear to god, I'm gonna hunt him down and force him to finish it."
Castiel wants to give it a like, but he knows people will take it as confirmation that it's true, and even though it is, he doesn't want to confirm that yet, so he doesn't.
"I never get to go to his Sioux Falls concerts so that will be awesome!"
"I love how he's asking us as if we won't fangirl about whatever he does."
"YESS BECAUSE THE VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE ARE SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!"
"I don't want it to take the spot of another song tho."
"GUYS HE'S GONNA FINISH THE SONG HE STOPPED EVERYONE SAY YES!"
Castiel smiles slightly. He definitely wanted to use that song, but he wasn't sure if people would be okay with that, because the point is that no one else is supposed to hear it. It looks like people are excited not just for a repeat performance, but for this song particularly, which will make this a nice not-so-surprise.
He opens the camera and sets it down on the floor so the screen is black and hits record. He sits forward on the couch with his guitar, angling his notebook towards him so he can read it. He says the name of the song, then sings through it. He stops the video after each song, so after a while, he has 25 videos of him singing, including mistakes that he's too lazy to fix by redoing the entire song.
Castiel selects all the videos to send to Jim, simply adding, "New album?" He sets his guitar down and opens Instagram again. This fan account thing is actually really fun.
