"I think you're really gonna like this one," Dean says as they get in the car later than afternoon.

"More than that?" Castiel asks dubiously. They had just come from a trampoline park, full of wall to wall trampolines that brought him back to his very young childhood days. It was a good workout, and it was fun. He's not sure anyone can top that.

"I wouldn't be surprised," Dean tells him. "This next place is your kind of party."

Castiel is a bit confused when they pull up to an animal shelter. Castiel gives his boyfriend a confused look as they get out of the car.

"We're not getting another dog, are we?" he asks, not quite sure how he'd feel about that. He adores Misha, but two dogs seems like a lot of work, especially with all the traveling he dies in his busiest seasons.

"Not a chance," Dean replies. "C'mon." He gestures for Castiel to follow him inside, where the lady out front seems to recognize him.

And that's the story of how Castiel found himself in a room surrounded by puppies.

"I want them all!" Castiel announces, pausing as one of them — a small golden lab named Daisy — licks his face. "Can we get them all? Please?" He looks over at Dean hopefully.

"Not a chance," Dean says immediately. "I just brought you so you could play with them for a little while. No one's been coming to adopt any of them, so there was no reason not to."

No one has been adopting them? Then maybe...

"I wanna take pictures with them all and post them on Instagram so hopefully someone will see them and adopt them," Castiel says, though it was pointless to announce it because he pulls out his phone to try to take pictures with them before waiting for a response.

Unfortunately, taking selfies with hyper puppies proved to be much more difficult than taking selfies with an old dog with more medical problems than Castiel has mental problems — and that's definitely saying something about Misha.

"I'll take pictures of you guys," Dean offers.

"That works," Castiel agrees, putting his phone away. He adds with excessive energy, "Ooh, take a video! I want to remember them running around like this!"

Dean chuckles at his excitement. "Alright, hold on." He pulls out his phone, so Castiel turns his attention back to the dogs.

"Hey, Midnight," he coos, holding a hand out in hopes that the dog will come over to be pet like Misha does. He blows a kiss at the puppy, who just look at him for a few moments.

Suddenly, he feels something digging into his leg, and looks down to see the small golden dog of some type, Luna, jumping on him. Her brother, Brahm — a fatter version of her with black fur — trots up to him, a tennis ball in his mouth. He drops the ball and looks up at Castiel impatiently. He picks it up and tosses it lightly. "Go get it!"

As Brahm runs after the ball, Castiel turns his attention back to Luna, scratching behind her ear. She reaches up, stretching her spine as far as she can, but she can't reach him, so she takes a few steps with her front paws before giving up and just jumping up on him. She stands on his leg, her front paws on his chest, and licks his face.

"Luna!" Castiel laughs.

Bailey, a slightly larger dog with long brown fur and spots of white, walks over to him and nuzzles his leg, making him laugh again.

"Is this what heaven feels like?" Castiel asks to no one in particular.

"For you? I wouldn't be surprised," Dean replies, his amusement clear in his voice.

Maverick, a dark colored fluffy husky, bounds over to him and jumps on him, knocking him on his back. Luna jumps out of the way just in time, trotting away as Maverick and his sister, Goose, try to get him to play, though he's not sure what they're expecting him to do, so he just pets them.

"Cas, get your dog away from me," Dean says.

Castiel glances back to see Luna standing in front of him. He chuckles and crawls over to them, sitting on the floor again. Luna crawls back up on him, and he scratches behind her ear again.

"This is the best birthday party I've ever had," Castiel announces. "Granted, I've only had, like, four birthday parties, but this one is my favorite."

"Well, I'm glad you like it," Dean tells him. "Like, really, because it was hard to find somewhere that we could do this."

"Well, I'm so glad you did," Castiel replies, beaming. "Now, can we adopt another dog?"

"No!" Dean says immediately.

"Fine," Castiel groans. "But can I at least adopt Luna?"

Dean just facepalms.
