[YOU KNOW THE DRILL, NOT EDITED]

Cara's POV

"What ?" I asked bewildered, his words took me way off the guard.

He averted his gaze away, as if it hurts to look at me, i saw how his hand curled into a fist; he looked different, from the moment he came to my room, everything about him felt different.

With hesitation , i slowly placed my hand over his arm, "Roman." My voice came low, "What happened ?"

He turned his head, his eyes met mine again, i saw him swallow hard before talking, "When dad first told me, that i have to do this, i have to marry Emma, i mean Nikolas's sister, he said i have no choice, and it's my duty to the family-

I was so angry, not just because of her, like i barely saw her before i knew about this marriage thing, she was always in her room, she wasn't allowed outside, but because how my life was always controlled,  either by dad or by them, as long as i remember, i didn't have a say in anything-"

He took a short pause, "So, this time i had to do something, i had to somehow - get rid of her."

My eyes widened, so he really did - kill her?

Oh my god-

"No, not that way." He said snapping me from my shock. Wait, i said that out loud, i seriously should get a grip over myself.

"I wanted to get closer to her, know more about her, see if there is a way she can break this deal, so I won't have to marry her-"

"So with that in my mind, i started to go to her room more often, without anyone knowing of course.

She had no friends so it was easy to get inside her mind, she fell for my act and she slowly opened up to me."

He took in a deep breath, "Her dream was to get out of this place, leave here, go to college, be normal like all girls her age, so then I thought maybe if i helped her escape, i would be doing her and me a favor."

"But what I didn't see coming was me-"

He stopped.

"You what?" I asked curiously.

He nervously raked his fingers in his hair as he lowly let out, "- me actually falling for her."

My eyes widened a bit, "You loved her?" I asked.

A small smile curved his lips, "Yeah-", his voice softened, "- she was different, she was so pure." He shook his head, "She didn't belong here."

"I wanted to make her happy, so i sneaked her out of the house few times." He continued, his voice not as soft as before, but you can still feel the pain behind each word, "We went out, we did crazy things-" his smile was back, as if the memories are replaying in his head all over again, "We were normal, we pretended to be, to act like any normal couple."

"It was like -" He paused for a while, letting out a breath, " Like the best days of my life. For once i felt free, so did she."

"But i was so stupid, i knew why she was kept inside, i knew Nikolas has lots of enemies waiting the perfect chance to hurt him or any member of his family, i knew everything yet i was too stubborn to consider it through-" his voice raised a bit, anger filling his words, "Every time i sneaked her out, i knew i was risking it."
