I stood outside the door. Dax and him were placed in the rooms next to each other. Dax has been hurt because of me... And Jurian has been shot at because of me. Kyran and I spoke to the police and answered their questions.
Jurian's surgery went great, but he still hasn't gained conscious and Dax has a concussion.I didn't want to go in. I was embarrassed, ashamed, and full of guilt. So I'm standing outside with people passing by. Amara showed up around the corner and frantically ran to me.
"Dax, where's Dax? I-Is he okay?" She was already crying.
"He has a concussion and" I point to the door on the left side of me. "that's his room." She rushed in and closed the door.
I let out a shaky breath. Kyran came back after talking with someone. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to him. "What are you doing?" He eyed my shoulder and sighed. "You got cut. Let's go stitch it."
He pulled my hand and I winced, grabbing my stomach.
"What's wrong?"
I shook my head. "Nothing, just-"
"Did he claw you there? Or did he kick you?"
I didn't answer. He sighed and tugged my head gently.
"Let's go," he brought me to a doctor's office and we stepped in.
"Hello, Mr. Knight. You here for the appointment?" The doctor is a woman who seems to be in her fifties. She has a grey bob with bangs across her forehead. Her eyes are kind brown but I'm assuming she might hate Halfs.
Kyran nodded and I was just standing there, confused. "Appointment? What appointment?" I stuttered. Kyran grabbed my arms, gently pushed me to a hospital bed, and sat me down.
"Is this an appointment for my shoulder? Kyran, really, it's okay. It'll heal in time."
He crossed his arm across his chest. "But you're not treating it right."
He sat in a chair behind my back and the doctor came with gloves. "Okay. Hello Breeze, I'm Doctor Rue and I'll be stitching your wound."
I give up. Reluctantly, I nodded. She went behind me. "Please take off your sweater."
I pulled the sweater off and put it in my lap. She pulled down my sleeve. "Just a tiny shot then we'll continue.": : : : : :
My shoulder is sore and I rolled my neck. Kyran was quiet and on his phone the whole time. Doctor Rue left us alone in the room to check on her patient.
"How's Dan?" I ask, not turning to him.
"He's good for now. He got a check up and I drove him home during Jurian's surgery."I nodded. "I got your hoodie dirty, I'm sorry."
"It's fine," he said. "How's your stomach?"
I pulled my shirt up to check. It wasn't bruised or purple. I moved around and it was healed. How was it healed though? Then I realized I was turned into half a vampire and my features were strong.
"Healed," I reply.
It became silence after that. I put my arms through the sleeves of the hoodie and try to slide myself in. My shoulder became numb and my arm instantly dropped.
"Oh my god! Oh my god! KYRAN!" I screamed.
"Yo, chill."
"How can you be chill? My arm is like a noodle right now! Look!"
I waggled my arm in front of him and he chuckled. "I asked her to put Serilv in the shot. Yes, your arm is going to be a noodle, whatsoever, but it'll numb the pain."
"How long is it going to be?" I ask. I waved my arm again.
"Just for fifteen minutes. But right now, it's thirteen." He finally put his phone away and looked at me.
"This feels so weird," I waved my arm again. "And kind of disgusting mixed with coolness."
"Okay, okay. Stop it, that looks, literally, disgusting." He said, covering his mouth.
I waved my arm again, teasing him. I even made rocket noises to go along.
"Seriously, stop!"
I shook my head and continued. He got on his feet, chuckling, and grabbed both of my arms. "Stop..."
"One more time," I cocked my head and smiled. I stopped. My smile faltered and I turned away.
"Do you not want to smile at me?" asked Kyran. He moved in front of me and shifted his weight. I brought up my non-noodle arm to cover my mouth.
"It's weird," I mumble. "To smile, laugh, and have these kind of emotions again."
"It's not weird. It's a gift that is brought to us all. Especially you," he gently tapped my forehead and I furrow my brows. "I like your smile, little monster."
"I forgot, why am I nicknamed little monster?"
He pursed his lips and sat on the hospital bed. "Because you're short, that's for one." He grinned and I rolled my eyes. "And... Courageous."
"Then it would've been little knight." I say. He smirked. "Wait, never mind."
"Aw, why not? It has 'Knight' in it." He laughed and I sighed.
I raised my noodle arm to slap him but it didn't "noodle". It was stiff and I can feel it.
"Time's up," said Kyran.
"I wish I had it for five more seconds just to hit you." I say.
He chuckled. "Now," I start. "About Dax... What did he mean by who you really are?"
His expression faltered a bit but a wide smile showed. "It's probably just a distraction."
My instincts didn't believe that. I put it aside and just accepted it. I finished putting on Kyran's hoodie and walked to the door until he spoke, "Do you like Jurian? Not as a friend, but more than that?"
My whole body froze. Do I? I don't, right?
"Of course not. I'm a Half." I say.
"You're far more special than just a Half, Breeze." His voice was soft and gentle. I looked over my shoulder and Kyran was sitting on the bed looking out the window that showed the pink, orange sunset. His chiseled jawline shone in the light and his long eye lashes fell on his cheeks."I'll be going. See you later, Kyran."
