"Wait, so this whole thing is because of a Witch?" exclaimed Jessica, and Taylor.
I nod. "Yeah. Basically it's kind of a war. Don't tell anyone though, please?"
"That snake!" shouted Taylor.
I put my finger to my lips. "Shh! It's past curfew!"
When I came back, the girls, Julio and Lucas, tried to keep Kyran warm. Taylor, as a vampire, said that he was on the brink of death. If he had stayed out there for five more minutes he would've... I don't even want to say it. It made me shudder.
It soon fell night and we were all sleeping. Amara kept moving and that when I know she isn't asleep. I rotate my body to her.
"It sucks that you can't tell me..." I say.
"Well," she says. "She has control over my family."
"I wonder. Why does she have control over your family?" I ask.
"It happened when my mom was going to have a miscarriage." She explains shortly.
"Oh..."
She continues. "So, in exchange of Esther helping my mom and I, she wants to use my family. If they disobey, they'll kill me. I'm bait."
Esther, you bitch.
"But what, weren't you supposed to meet Jurian at eight..."
"Oh crap," I breathed. It was like something shot me. "I totally forgot. I need to go apologize now but it's past curfew and-"
"Hey, don't freak out. The teachers aren't that good at supervising. Just slip past them and bam, you're at his door." assured Amara.
I slowly get out of bed, trying to not make a sound. I slide into my salmon pink silk robe and poked my head through the door. It was dark, obviously. I tip-toed out and skipped to Jurian's door down the hall. I softly knocked on it. A short moment later, he opened it and I slipped inside. He was a bit taken back when he saw me and closed the door. His hair was a bit messy but overall, it looked like he didn't sleep.
"Um... Hi." I say. "I'm really, really sorry. Something came up and I-"
He stops me. "It's okay. You don't need to explain."
"But I just feel like-"
"Really, you don't have to. I know what happened."
I gasped at him. "H-how? Oh my God, did Taylor or Jessica tell you? I swear-"
He chuckled lightly. "No, no, they didn't. I overheard Julio and Lucas talking about it when they were making hot chocolate."
Silence.
"You...like him, don't you?" asked Jurian.
My head snapped up and instantly said, "What? No."
He smiles and looks down. "You don't have to hide it. It's been a while since I've known."
I felt guilt weighing on me. "How long?"
He looked up and stopped to think. He curled his lip and squinted his eyes.
"Halloween night," he finally said. "It was Kyran who you saw that night. But when I guarded your room, you kept chanting him in your sleep." He laughed nervously. "I'm jealous of him."
"Why?" I ask, rubbing my arms.
"Because he has you. A beautiful, amazing, Breeze Pierce."
A big fat tear fell slid down. "I'm sorry," I whisper. "I don't know what to say."
