UNKNOWN PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW
Early in the morning, I got a call from my hysteric sister. "Bhaiya (elder brother)! Please help us, please...", she cried. I attempted to calm her down and ask her what the matter was.
I am Mujahed Abdul Jabbar. I had been living in the city since my youth. I run a multinational company. I may not be a billionaire, but I do belong to the upper class. I and my family were well-known and respected in the town. I have 2 sons and a daughter whom I am proud of. I love my wife. She is a very noble and pious woman. She has filled our home with peace and happiness. And has raised all my kids very well.
I have a sister who lives in a small town with her husband and a little daughter. She's my youngest and most beloved sister. I love her like my own daughter. Saniya has always been very beloved to me. I always dreamt of having her as my daughter-in-law as she was a very well-behaved and noble girl. Hence, when I found that my son, Ryan liked her, I engaged them to each other without a second thought.
I came to know about her husband's demise a few months back. I was out of the country with my whole family then and couldn't attend his funeral. My little sister has always been a very dignified lady with a lot of pride and self-respect. She would die of hunger but never ask a penny from anyone, not even her own brother. So today when she begged me for help, I knew the situation was really very serious.
I went to her village without telling my family and met her in secret. She explained me everything that happened with her and her daughter, Saniya.
Saniya has been engaged to my elder son, Ryan since many years. I called him and asked if he could come back home urgently.
He replied in negative. The company that Ryan spent 8 years to build has been running in loss. The next one year was going to be very crucial for him. He had started that company from scratch and built it to what it was today. He had done everything by himself with little help from me. I would not let anything destroy it. Nothing.
One year. That's all he needed. That's all it took to get it back on to track. But one year was hardly what Saniya had...
Within seconds, I made my decision.
"Son, do you have faith in your father?", I asked Ryan. "Of course, Abbu (Dad)! After Allah, You and Ammi (Mom) are the people I trust the most." I immediately felt proud of him and how well I and my wife had raised our kids. "Listen, son," I started, "your aunt and Saniya are in a fix. I can't really explain you the details, though. I need you to have faith that I will always do what's best for all my children, and that includes Saniya. I also promise you that I won't do any injustice to any of you."
"I will always abide by your decisions, Abbu."
I flew home. All the way I knew I had to be tough here on. There was no way I was going to spill the beans about the embarrassing incident that occurred with my niece. Her dignity was my dignity. I won't allow anyone to pity them, not even my own wife and kids. I knew I had to play the villain now.
"Either you marry Saniya, or I divorce your mother right this instant," I screamed to Zahid, my younger son.
