Abilities are useful when you're a scary killer, but being overloaded with them is just draining and easily creates a Mary Sue. I can't emphasize this enough, keep it balanced and reasonably realistic. It's fun to give your OC abilities, honestly. I talked about abilities in the, "Species" chapter a good amount so read that if you haven't already. Most abilities or powers stem from being a supernatural creature, but some human OCs also can have them. Manipulations or heightened senses and abilities are common, but are usually the same between any character with the same ability. Vary the use and functions of the power/ability, and give them drawbacks. Does it get out of control? What are the drawbacks? Can it be used freely? What are the disadvantages? Why does your character have them? How did your character get them? Make sure to give a reason for their abilities and powers, and I recommend giving drawbacks, to make it more balanced and not so overpowered and basic. Add some flare, put a different take on the ability too, make it unique but don't go over the top. Thanks for reading!
