Surprised I haven't done this before...weLL time to finally make a chapter about sayings and catchphrases! This is a fun thing to create when wanting to add fear factor into your OC. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it goes wrong. I personally dislike catchphrases, as I find them insignificant and quite frankly I'm bad at coming up with them, but I fully understand why people like them. Hopefully my input and feedback is still valid to you though!
DOs and DON'Ts for Creating Catchphrases/Sayings
DON'T copy other characters - Under no circumstances should you ever copy something from canon characters. In any fandom. If your OC's saying is even similar to a canon Pasta's, you should scrap it. Even basing off of a real murderer is iffy. Unintentional or not, you shouldn't copy. Some common copied/dangerously similar and cliché catchphrases are; Don't go to sleep, Sweet dreams/nightmares, You did the wrong thing, See you in hell (this isn't copied, just cliché), and etc.
DO be original - Like the first one, I will stress constantly how you should be original. Screw around with your imagination, come up with something good! Shake up your brain and swipe up any ideas, I'm sure you can come up with something. Treat it like Tindr, if you like it just simply grab it and analyze it before deciding.
DON'T do it for the charm - A catchphrase should be scary. Of course, you can't just come up with a scary saying like that. Take your time coming up with something reasonable, make sure it's something you legitimately think a killer would say. If your OC's saying is something is an out of the blue thing you thought only sounds cool or something, consider scrapping it.
DO consider the worth - Remember, you don't have to have a catchphrase. It's perfectly fine not to have one, lacking a saying for your character doesn't make you any less creative.
DON'T rush - It takes time to come up with a catchphrase. Take your time, you'll get something eventually.
DO consider your actual OC first - Some people actually miss this step. They create OCs with sayings that don't even sound like something they would say. Keep in mind, not every Creepypasta or even general killer is totally insane and violent. In fact, that's a very wrong portrayal. Killers are supposed to be subtle about their work. Don't make up a super "insane" or edgy catchphrase just, "Because they're a killer!"
Consider your OC's actual base personality and build off of that, creating a worthy and logical catchphrase in the end. That should wrap up this chapter, hopefully you enjoyed. The next chapter is another review so look forward to that. Peace out!
