I'm surprised I didn't make a chapter on this before, now here it is!

Appearance is really what people look at when they see a Mary Sue. Lots of Creepypasta OCs look really edgy, a lot like a canon Creepypasta, or overly flamboyant, but remember most good OCs don't have a perfect body and stuff! Wow!

Things to Avoid when Designing an OC

1. Perfect bodies
This is a weirdly common thing for Creepypastas to have, and very overused. I'm fine with a well structured person, but don't do it for the sexiness and whatnot. A Creepypasta girl shouldn't be all sexy and stuff. I'm all in a more attractive or built person, but make sure you have a good reason for their structure. What was their home life and household like? What kind of climate do they live in? Take these things into account when physically designing your OC. Don't just give them abs or a small waist, big hips, a big butt, and big breasts for the heck of it. They are in the Creepypasta world, they should blend in, not stand out. Make their body logical for their emotional and physical condition. Also, if someone is thin, they can't also be really strong!

2. Impractical clothing
Kind of self explanatory. Make sure your OC's clothing is logical and fitting for their environment. And I don't mean tight fitting. If your OC has a crop top or shorts, then chances are your OC has impractical clothing choices. Give them reasonable clothing for their environment and self, keep it real. Also, don't rip off other canon Pasta's clothing! I'm wary of masks and other things that most canon Pasta's have. Hoodies are also overused. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it, but it is still an overused thing to wear. Many say combat boots are overused and whatnot but I love 'em, I don't have a problem with them. Just make the clothing practical, rational, and modest.

3. Overused features
I could go on for days listing overused features that Creepypasta OCs have. I'll just list some though, and give explanations for some of the worse ones.

- red eyes
This is really common among demon or mutated OCs, and it's ridiculous. No one has red eyes, unless they wear coloured contacts or is from a hardcore fantasy world. I don't recommend giving your OC red eyes, it's really unnatural and just not right for a world mostly full of humans.

- violet/purple eyes
Same goes as above! Not many people have purple eyes. There are some causes, like in myths and I think a certain illness (don't take my word for this, I might not remember correctly) or two can give someone purple eyes but that's about it. It's really rare. And unnatural, even if the OC does fit the requirements. If you give your OC purple eyes or just weird eyes in general, it'd be best to give a good scientific explanation (from research! :D) or just coloured contacts.

- mismatching eyes
Heterochromia and a missing eye make eyes mismatching, and that's fine but please explain why and how they got it, and do research. This isn't common or ordinary in the real world, which is similar to the Creepypasta world.

- long black hair
Lots of people hate this, and I can see why. This is an iconic Jeff trait or a Jane trait (whom is a Jeff ripoff...). I don't recommend long black hair, especially if it's based off of Jeff or looks a lot like his. Just stay clear of this, and if you decide to tackle it, be cautious. At least make it shorter or dyed or something.

- pale white skin
Again, with how Creepypasta is similar to the real world...only Jeff really has paler skin, and that's for a good iconic reason. And Slenderman. He's not human though. Or even a Creepypasta. Sorry fans. No actual famous or iconic Pastas have super pale skin, at leas that I can recall. This is an annoying trait, as it's not even scary, unique, or interesting anymore. It's been done to death. Pale skin is ok sometimes but mostly cliche, c'mon, where's my foreigners? All OCs are white in skin colour, and it's usually super pale too. I've never seen more than one-ish dark skinned OCs! Enough with all the black and white, spice it up.

- carved smile
Yeah, nope. Overused as hell, and a Jeff ripoff. Stop being unoriginal, don't use this. Ever. Enough said, this is self explanatory.

- stitches/thread/puppet strings
I do like the idea of this honestly, but like the pale or white skin, it's not unique anymore. It's overused as hell, and stitches are usually linked to Liu. I don't recommend this but any OC can be good, be original with it at least. It's iffy otherwise.

- symbols/words/etc carved into body
I can't think of a canon Pasta with this, and you know why? Because it's cliche and hard to work with. Many OCs have carvings in them and again, I'm ok with it, just it is a bit overused and doesn't really have a good explanation most of the time. If you carve something into your OC's poor skin, make sure to give a good explanation as to why and how it got there, and the symbolism behind it.

4. Cliche descriptions
This isn't an immediate OC killer nor does it really affect your OC's development, but it gets really annoying. Using phrases like, "amber eyes" or, "amethyst orbs" or, "luscious locks" is overused, overly poetic, and just annoying. Not a major OC killer, but avoid these! Use more creative or eerie ones. This isn't a love story or poem, keep it from seeming that way.

5. Unrealistic and/or special snowflake mutations
There isn't anything really wrong with mutations and similar things but don't overdo it. If you want to overload your OC with cool traits, don't. Maybe spread them across several other OCs, if you really want to. Spread out your ideas, don't cram them into one OC. I use the term, "special snowflake" very seldom and I don't see much in it, though, so I probably won't say that again. But don't be too crazy with the, "special" gig. Be original, and to really smooth out the ideas, you'll need to get rid of something.

6. Unnecessary info
This ties in with special bits...like boobs, butts, and more sexual organs and body parts. Yeah, don't mention them. It steers your OC in the Mary Sue direction, and it really just is unnecessary. Not much else to be said.

Remember that to make a really smooth OC, you must spread out the info and remove some things. No character is perfect, and that's what makes it good!
