She follows me through the day,
stretching quietly beside my steps.
Sometimes I wonder where she disappears at night.
I wonder if she is afraid of the light.
She reminds me that I exist
on the days the world feels heavy enough
to chain me into silence.
I watch people pass by
wearing darkness like a second skin,
Not realizing all the lies,
They hide painted in black.
And sometimes I think
my shadow carries more light
than this world ever could.
Because even when no one sees me,
she remembers I exist.
